option 1: annex mexico

option 2: build a southwest ellis island, where anyone who can pass basic checks is admitted.

option 3: fortify the border and patrol it like crazy... which will probably require most military forces to run their training exercises in that region.

Me, I have a soft spot for option #1.

I figure that #'s 2 and 3 are only stopgaps at best.

The logic is pretty simple:

1. Hundreds of thousands of foreign citizens, entering the country without documentation of any sort, is a threat to national security.

2. Mexican Citizens are the primary culprits, and Mexico encourages them.

3. Therefore, Mexico is a threat to our national security.

4. When a nation is a threat to your national security, the traditional solution is to compel them to change their ways through military measures.

5. The change required in mexico is that mexico offer corruption-free opportunities for free enterprise to improve the local standard of living.

6. Mexico has not done this.

7. National Security demands that mexico do this.

8. Therefore, Mexico must be seized and forced to institute the relevant reforms.

or at least that's the logical conclusion the senators seem to favor. I think option 2 would be prefferrable.

I am for a mixture of the option two and three.

What I am for is a wall, maned patroled and secure. No one pases the wall and if you do bam sorry shot if you enter into a marked out zone and do not respond to warnings.

Along with that there should be approved boarder crossings and immigration centers. Previously you had to pass through ellis island to come here (or silimer center, ellis island just being one of the more famous ones). While there you had to register your name be aproved pass medical checks etc. Then after passing and only then could you immigrate to the country. We didn't need a wall then because the ocean acted as the wall. Now the immigration is from a place where they can simply walk, we need to build the ocean so that they have to go through properly as the people before did.

interrupting much needed training. This was last spring
Happens more than you know. We have had A-10's come off the range unable to drop or shoot on several occasions the last 3 months due to illegals heading North.

I have to admit that I'm ambivalent about the illegals that cross our borders from Latin America.

On one hand, I became acutely aware of the economic and political challenges that everyday Mexicans face during the three years that I lived in Mexico and ran a business there. There are many good people who I know there who want to make things better for their families and are willing to work hard to accomplish this...in essence, who are willing to live the American way.

On the other hand, I am adamantly opposed to illegal immigration. We are a nation of laws. If it is illegal to cross the border without a visa, then those who attempt this should suffer appropriate consequences (I won't even touch the idea of using the illegals on the bombing range for target practice). We should prevent illegal immigration in any way that we see fit (e.g. buiding a wall).

If laws are not enforced, then the freedoms and protections that we all enjoy under these laws are eroded.

Through our free political processes, we need to decide as a nation whether we think that we have room for people who want to work hard. If we decide that we do have room, then we need to find a way for these people to come here legally.

I can't accept the current situation.

How many illegals are there in Utah? I live in Kali and WE DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE ROOM for them (or anyone for that matter).

By now there should be plenty of jobs down in Mexico,They got most of ours!!!!!!!

Amen to that GMAN. +1
