Is there such a thing as a place to go and just, "shoot stuff", around Southern Cook/Northern Will counties? Would be nice just to go out to, "Plink", without having to get a hunting license, wear orange, and keep saying, "Oops, missed again" ;) , when shooting at an, "invisible", squirell. Thanks in advance.

Being in the same geographical area as you, the simple answer ---not really.
But, there are the following if you are willing to drive a little.

    Indiana:
La Salle Fish and Wildlife (structured range)
    Willow Slough (structured range)

    Illinois:
    Buffalo Rock
Illinois State Rifle Association Range - Paid Membership (usually a wait to become a range member and have to work range days)

I hear it's not cheap either, right?

there is also an indoor range 31 miles down the toll road. it costs about $15 for range fees.

Buffalo Range is where I go. I live in south east Dupage and it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get there.

Gun World in Bensinville? Haven't shot there yet but I heard it is a 25yrd range and you can shoot centerfire rifles there. I may have to go there this winter to get my AR fix after Buffalo shuts down for the season (Jan).
