I've heard now that the ATF is approving SBR applications for Illinois, for holders of a C&R license. They are not approving trusts, only individuals, from what I understand.

I'm going to begin the process on a PS90, now. Was waiting to see if anyone actually DID get one. First one I heard of being approved was just before Christmas.

Anyway, just an "FYI" for anyone living in this (oddly more gun friendly) state.

Let us know how that turns out for you. Thank God I no longer live in that state, but I'm glad to see at least SOME progress for our 2nd amendment rights.

Cooldill; will do. I've got the ATF packet here, just need to review the steps I need to do, and find a day off work to visit the Sheriff.

Another guy I just talked to tonight, took about 10 months to get his done. Guess the backlog at ATF is heavy right now.

Haven't done much of anything with it yet. I've got two AK pistols I want to convert over but 922(r) issues with each (need to buy more parts to make it legal). Been working on some other projects which are sucking gun / play money away and doing an SBR will need to wait until funds are available. Got hooked on High Power and that sport is sucking money away at a rapid pace....

I'll be watching this one and cheering for you, Trent. I'm also in Illinois and cannot get the lust for an SBR 9mm (like an MP5 Clone or even an actual HK MP5) and cannot purge the idea no matter what it costs.

I thought I could put it out of my mind because Illinois is so archaic on guns *but* now that they have figured out that they can make millions giving "licenses" I think we may be on a faster track to things like looser CCL and SBR's etc. :)

Maybe.

Not sure what the status is but there was a bill I saw filed this year that would change the language (yet again) to allow licensed federal firearms dealers to do transfers. Currently I think you can own them but there is some serious confusion on whether or not a gun shop can handle them or perform transfers for people.

I'd have to dig up the bill but I posted it earlier this year in DC Dalton's 'flood of gun legislation' thread in legal on here.

I've been kicking around getting my FFL re-upped (and my lathe fixed - lightning fried the motor). I'd like to do gunsmithing again and help do conversions. Need to do some more research and see how that law fares.. and have other projects to work on. Fortunately I'm a patient man (some would say a procrastinator, even).

Now if we can just get suppressors I'll be on my way to being a very happy camper...not that this will happen in my lifetime. :banghead:

I'd MUCH rather have suppressors than SBR's. I like shooting off my back deck but I'd also like to be considerate of the neighbors. :)
