This is a book that was published in 1995 and written by James A. Swan. I read it in the 90's back when I had started hunting again and have recently re-read it. When written the author was primarily addressing the growth of the animal rights, ant-hunting, earth first types threat to hunting but he does touch on the diminishing numbers of hunters, at the time, as well as the cost of time and money to hunt involved, primarily in California.
The author does a good job of analyzing the anti's positions and showing them up for what they were back then but I wonder how this stands up to now ?

Also,I don't recall how I felt about the book when I read it 20 years ago but the parts where he talks about guns and hunting reveals, in my opinion, that he is a bit of a smug elitist...
Anyone else here ever read the book or maybe even know the author? I read where he lives in New Mexico now instead of California.
