In this latest "panic buy," did you over pay? If 'yes,' why?

Yeah. I bought brick of primers just because I could. And because I have the strange dread that things might actually get worse. Sorta like dollar cost averaging at the stock market. For those of us not clever enough to buy low all the time.

Reloading supplies are nothing. Wait until you need a repair on your truck or to replace a couple of appliances to see how bad things really are right now.

Ive yet to pay MSRP for any gun or gun accessories, but for ammo ive paid market on one box of 9mms, one box of 556 (both for my dad), and 110dollars/1k for large pistol primers....the primers were miss labled at the original 5 bucks a tray, and i grabed two bricks worth. Noticed it went back and asked and sure nuff 10 bucks a tray....Is what it is, I used one as a bribe, and the other was given to a friend, so im not really upset.
Ok, now we gotta hear the story of who got "bribed" with a box of primers and for what nefarious purpose! :D

I actually did pay the dude at the Wendys drive through window with ammo recently.

I jokingly asked if they took 9mm as a form of payment, and he said he needed some bad, so we traded. I got a Crispy Chicken Sandwich and a Frosty for 15 rounds of FMJ! :what:

I bought 200 rounds of 9mm at a ridiculous price because I got panicky. Then I felt ashamed, because I was nowhere near out of 9mm, and still am not.

I also paid $40 for a box of 9mm at the indoor range that I'm a member of. I get 6 "free" rentals with my yearly membership, and I wanted to try out some new pistols. Unfortunately, they won't let you use your own ammo in rental guns, so I had to pay their price. That was my first and last "free" rental.

I’ve not bought ammo in nearly a year, almost went for some 10 cent per round .22 but I had enough 5 cent stuff to last a while. Saw some $15 aluminum 9 mm, for some reason passed on that to. I did pay the highest price I’ve ever paid for a gun 3 months ago, a S&W 41 but I think I got a reasonable deal.

Locally we are seeing a lot of those "panic buy" guns being sold to pawn shops.

As for ammo shortages, it has been noted that we have had five shortages over the last 20 years. Thus the next one will be about 2025. As soon bottom drops out of the market next year then you should be stockpiling in preparation.

What I want to know is what he would have given you for 15rds of Remington Golden Sabers? I love those bullets, they are wicked. Maybe he would have given you the whole store!:rofl:

About 5 months ago I paid MSRP + $20 for a new Ruger MK4 22/45 lite #43927. I wanted to conserve my stash of center fire ammo for both handguns and long guns and decided to use some of my less expensive 22LR for a shooting fix. I had no handguns in 22LR and had been searching for a 22/45 lite for awhile so when this gun became available I had to jump on it. I’m embarrassed but it helps to talk about it:(

No realy a panic buy. But I do feel like I overpaid for a Rem 870 Shotgun. I got it in my mind that I had to have one of these Georgia State Corrections Remington 870 Shotguns I saw on Gunbroker. I paid $325. plus tax and shipping and transfer fee. So in the end I am into it for $380ish. Seems to me that prior to the Woflue I could buy Police Trade in 870's at a local shop for about $250ish. So over paid but not a whole lot.

Not really panic buying but I check out my LGS's every two weeks and buy whatever ammo they have available. As far as over-paying, back in October 2020 I made quite a few firearm purchases. While the purchase prices were not cheap I did not think they were exorbitant. Not sure why I decided to make all those purchases in October. Perhaps November 2020 had anything to do with it?

I'm having a hard time resisting the urge to buy. I think I have plenty of 9mm for instance. But every time I see a box at a decent price, I buy the limit, whether it's 2 boxes or 4. If it's there at $18/50 or $19/50, I find it hard to walk away. How do we stop?

No panic at all. I buy a certain number of primers every year. A certain number of projectiles and powder. I paid more for them then I have in the past. Overpay? Perhaps. But have what I want and in the long run the price doesn't matter that much.
