    Hi everyone,

I have a friend who was given a Remington Improved Model 6 (s/n 485135) in 22LR decades ago by his grandfather just before he died. I have tried to find information on this rifle but have found very little. This is about all I have found (from Remington's website: http://www.remington.com/library/history/firearm_models/centerfire/model_6.asp). At least I know it was made somewhere between 1929 and 33.

Can anyone tell me a little more about this firearm? Good points, bad points, interesting tid bits? What makes it different than the standard Model 6? He is curious for any info he can get, as this rifle is a family heirloom. I believe his grandfather bought it new for a few dollars.

It is in excellent condition (a picture is provide below) save for one problem: extracting LRs is rather difficult, but shorts do just fine. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks for any info you can provide.
