I have been considering about the S&W 686 Plus Pro Series on 5", but I don't find any kind of information about this model on the net. Could anybody tell me some information about this model? How accurate is it? Is that tappered barrel ok? Is reccomended?

Good general purpose gun.

But it's illegal for IDPA use and 7 shots won't do much good in ICORE.

But if you like it, it's a great .357 to have.

I've got one, and its a great gun. very accurate, and the 5" tapered lug barrel balances wonderfully. The inside of my barrel is almost mirror polished, i dont know if that is standard or I just got a good barrel. But I have chronographed several loads, factory and handloads, and I get consistantly higher than published velocities.

Overall, I love mine, and I bet you'll love yours two.

I have two M686P revolvers, but both of mine are with the 3-inch barrel. As they are, even with the 3-inch barrel, each gun is much more accurate than I am....

Actions are smooth as soft butter and trigger release like breaking glass......

It does not get much better, in my opinion, than an S&W M686 revolver.....

I was torn between the 686 and the 627. I opted for the latter. I'll still get a 686, maybe this year. However, it's hard to top 8 rounds in 3-5-7.
