I need a mag like this.

It looks like they did the same thing to a BAR.

I wonder how reliable they are, and how they did it. You have to wonder about the histroy behind those guns, too.

I've never seen anything quite like that.

More qualified people will likely post after me and be closer to a proper answer, but even though I cannot see weld lines, it seems that they might have cannibalized some broken mags and welded them together to make 40 or 60 round mags. If you are right and that is a BAR (sure looks like one to me) I cannot figure out how the hell they would have gotten their hands on one. I had been under the assumption that the BAR was phased out after the Korean War.

The imperialist tendencies of the United States are well recorded, so it wouldn't surprise me that that is just a rifle that this group picked off of some soldier in a dirty war 30 years ago, but because I cannot place these guys, I can figure out how the hell they would have gotten a BAR...

They look Philipino to me. Which would explain US weapons.

A Ha!, follow the link. Philipino Pirates. Should have known from the boats. I was thinking Moros.

The Moros pre-WW2 would raid US Army units (ambush) patrolling the islands, and make off with their weapons. From all the fighting there pre-during-and-post WW2, them having a BAR doesn't exactly surprise me. They could have gotten it from a raid on Phillipine Army troops (Which use U.S stuff) in the 50s and 60s. Same for the M16s.

That vertical M16A1 in the second pic looks to have a M3 grease gun flash suppressor on it instead of the standard one.

Armalite IL, bought the US rights to their name from the Phillipino company that aquired it from the original company. AR15s in the Phillipines are called Armalites.

heres another shot of a tiger striped weld up curved 40 rounder:
