Interesting Police shooting involving backup weapons.....

All right then, in the future let's make sure the bad guys get FOUR free shots at police officers before they can legally return fire. Anything less than four is clearly homicide. :fire:
 
I wonder if Officer Pruitt will be in the gunstore tomorrow buying a P32 or P3AT to replace that .25.

And the prisoner's family needs a little help with understanding that fighting back against an attempted escape and attempted murder is a justified shoot situation.

Never had cages in the cars. We never moved prisoners by ourselves either. Probably due to manpower problems they only use one officer for transport.

I don`t know why he opened the window either. If the prisoner got his hands in front of him, it probably wouldn`t make a difference I suppose. This guy was going to try an escape any way you look at it.

I can see at lawsuit here.... "If the officer had not given my son/husband, etc.... the CHANCE to escape and attack the officer he would not have.... $5 million please...." :fire: :fire: :fire:

Hopefully the city could sue her back for the officers pain/suffering, etc.....
 
wow the prisoner shot him fist and the family calls it murder. people in todays society just piss me off. That officers life is FAR FAR more important that peice of trash. :fire:

Burns me up. Here in cincinnati a guy with 15 warrants for his arrest ran from an officer. he got trapped in an alley and the guy reached in his pocket. the guy got blown away. and all that was ever said unarmed black man shot. I hate our media and the mentality of people in society.:cuss:
I comend you officer Roach i would have done the same thing. Yeah then we got to have riots, way to go folks tear up your own community then expect the city to clean it up.

I like that Moore did not know where the Officer kept his .38, must be good concealment

This has to be one of a very few cases where three seperate weapons (all from the same individual) came into play.

Ah yes, South Carolina, the "shoot me" state.

So the officer had never fired his gun in the line of duty after 7 years of service and then has to fire 2 or the 3 he carried only after his primary was grabbed and used to shoot him twice.

The statement that the prisoner never got control of any of the officer's guns is simply wrong. He had enough control to shoot the officer twice.

I am with Black92LX on this. The prisoner's family claiming the cop murdered the prisoner is a classic example of what is wrong with our society. I am sure that he will be remembered as a good boy growing up who made a few mistakes before being prematurely called him home by God for service in His house.

As an aside, I love threads like this. I think I will post the link over on the .25 acp thread for those who feel so confident that a .25 will kill you just as dead.
 
The officer was 100% justified in using deadly force in this instance. you mess with a cops gun, you forefit your right to breath. whether the cop shoots you right off or waits in an attempt to control the situation is his perogative. after running drills with the local LEOs i have a completely new view on how they feel about deadly force.

Well, the officer certainly solved Rish's breathing problem.

I used to make fun of a guy who carried 3 guns . . . never again.

The reaction of the suspect's family is rubbish. This unwillingness to place responsibility where it belongs is troubling. This dirtbag shot the officer and yet suepect's mom says "the police murdered him"? I think not.
 
We discussed this in my Criminal Law class yesterday. There are several LEOs in that class, and one of them was somehow involved in the investigation or something. Turns out that not only did the criminal have a long record, but the FAMILY of the criminal has a cumulative record as thick as an encyclopedia - you know, the same people that are claiming the guy was murdered :rolleyes: Just like with any shooting a non-LEO may be involved in, there will inevitably be some sort of lawsuit (probably excessive force) when a LEO is involved.

Yes, the cop screwed up by opening the window. Yes, the officer was completely justified in shooting the piece of human garbage. Just one of those odd things that happens in life that no one can foresee.

Oh, how I long to be a judge. "You're suing the department because an officer killed your bastard son after he shot the officer while trying to escape? Get out of my court room - and you owe us $1200 for legal fees." Or however much legal fees are.

One very tough fight, guy sounds like a real survivor. I agree that the hands already out from behind the back indicated that opening the window was irrelevant, the moron was gonna try and may have been more successful had the officer been standing there and opened the door. funny, I knew "medical ruse" before I read it, a very tough line not to fall for.

Family comments are word for word of what some local family said a few years back when a CCW holder killed their precious son while he was trying to do a little Christmas looting at a liquor store. Shoulda raised 'em better to prevent you from saying dumb crap to the newsman.

Ruled inelgible for a Darwin award because his son walks the earth and speaks to the paper. Darn!
