Is a Combat Master a good anniversary present?

First... Caryn, my wife, buys my Delta Elite for me ... it has been my carry pistol whenever I can get away with a full size.
A P-11 has been my small concealment piece.
Last week we stopped by a gun shop that a guy on another forum suggested to me.
There in the case, just as he PMed me, was a Detonics Combat Master.
Seattle production, SN is under 4,000. The first 2,000 or so numbers were reserved by the company for special pistols.
So mine is #1287 of regular production.
It looks like it was carried a little, shot even less.
The bluing has turned plum on the slide, but I honestly do NOT care.
With the production so early, if my research is correct, this one MAY be one of the early ones that were hand built from Essex 1911s.
I pick it up... look it over... and Caryn says that we WILL be getting it and to put it on layaway.
She IS a keeper.
And the gun is nice too.

Brought her home...

Snapped a few quick pics.
With the Delta.

How much smaller than a full sized 1911?

The grip is this much shorter than a compact.

Good find, I have a four original mags and have cut CMC mags down. Grips are not easy to find, but full size cut down as the bottom hole is just below the frame. I added a magwell to mine and really enjoy it. Feeds every thing and surprisingly accurate.

It is so you can carry it in condition 2... hammer down on a loaded chamber.
If there is a threat, you draw and fan the hammer back with your weak hand like a TV wild west gunfighter.
:D
Or thumb cock it after drawing.

Before I got my Officer's size AC Amigo, the Combat Master was my daily carry. You are going to love that gun. You already love the wife, good combination.

I Had to have one the first time I saw a Combat Master.
Saved and saved, and bought mine in 1981.
This is, and will always be my never sell gun.

And additional size comparisons: Ruger Sp101, Combat Master, and KelTec PF9.

And for the sight radius folks SP101, compared to Combat Master.
