Is it just me...

With the gun hanging lower with handle in any given situation,I would think banging the firearm would be very possible. A firm grip on the stock keeps it close.MHO

I wouldn't buy a contraption to attach to the scope, but I have carried rifles by the scope numerous times over the years. Most of mine are mounted low enough that it isn't possible to get my fingers between the scope and action. But if there is enough clearance it doesn't hurt a thing.

I have carried rifles by the scope a few times, and even tied up a few custom paracord handles, but those attached to the rings or the rail. This thing could easily flop around enough to throw off a quick shot, or possibly scratch up a stock with the rivets/chicago screws. Leather treatment looks nice though. I think the beer carrier is more useful though.

If you are using that handle, the muzzle is likely pointing places it shouldn't. We discourage the trail or satchel carry in hunt safe classes, so that puts me in the not-a-fan section.

I'm not budging until I can buy it at the mall with some rhinestones, tassels, and a stamp from COACH or Dolce & Gabbana. People will say, "Is a rifle, is a purse"..... Hey, it's both!

it’s not as if a carry handle has never been tried before
Well, to be fair, that "carry handle" is a hold over from when it was a rail protecting the bolt handle which had been purposed as a sighting device since it was already in the way.

However, to be specific to this thread, the optics were install on the carry handle, not the carry handle installed on the optics.

Dumb way to carry the rifle, but only for the swing and sway. For a good optic and mount system, it’s not going to affect the zero in any way.

I’m another who has been picking up my rifles from the deck by the optic for decades. If I had any incling there was risk of a zero shift, I wouldn’t buy that ring, base, or optic. Much, much more stress is put on my optics during use than simply picking up the rifle. I don’t carry by it, but it’s a scope, not a fragile radio antenna.

I am, however, wholly averse to the product for muzzle control. I have used the line, “don’t carry your rifle around like a suitcase” in training classes for many years - and here this thing is literally a suitcase handle. Muzzle up or muzzle down. Never horizontal carry.

For hunters that hunt with a pack that has a belt, the Kifaru Gun Bearers seem really nice. Expensive for what they are but it seems like a really nice way to keep one's hands free while not worrying about a sling sliding off one's shoulder (if not placing sling on opposite shoulder across body).

But yes LaRue's "invention" here is stupid in my book. But may be brilliant in another's. Got to love capitalism.
