Is silver bear ammo any good

this is the same post as my IS golden bear any good I got mixed up on the name It is SILVER BEAR my mistake. It silver bear .223 62gr hp any better than wolf ammo.

I've shot about 300 rounds of it through my 16 and 20" ARs and some through an M96 and have not had any problems. Accuracy I've seen is 3-5" depending on the rifle. I do prefer the feel of the nickel plated steel to that of the lacquer coated steel. No particular reason, other than that I suspect the nickel has a little more lubricity. Silver Bear is my first choice when it comes to crap steel cased ammo.

I run it in my Saiga.. but I also treat my Saiga to American Brass cased ammo too...

BTW.. you can fit 20, 20 round boxes of it in a US 7.62NATO steel ammo can... I just did that this evening..

I shoot quite a bit of Silver Bear to stay in practice.
As noted the accuracy is not Match Grade but it is reliable and consistent.
If your groups are a bit bigger than you are used to with good quality brass case ammunition don't freak out, it isn't you or the rifle,,,,,,,

I have a small stash of sliver bear, and all the ones i've fired have been fine. from all the research that i've done on AK ammo, ALL the bear ammo (from Barnaul) is highly regarded.The only possible downside (according to stuff i've read on the inter-web,so take it for what it's worth) is that the silver colored zinc coating on the silver bear casings can be prone to some sort of oxidizing, though proper storage should minimize or negate this.

I know its not going to be match grade stuff but I just was wondering if it was better than wolfs accuracy, also is it any cleaner shooting?

I like it better than wolf...Neither of them are very accurate, so I just buy it for my SKS's and AK's.

Probably no better, or worse, than any other Ruskie ammo like Wolf, or Monarch, etc.. I wouldnt load my gun with it for serious business like defense or hunting; but its good for punching holes in paper & ringing steel pie plates; plus its cheap to shoot. One thing I do notice, however, my AR is dirtier when I shoot the Russian stuff. No biggie.

I don't know about Golden Bear but Brown Bear sucks,just look at the Mosin users thread to see some groups I got that were spread all over the place yet then I used Prvi Partizan ammo and the groups shrunk rather dramtically.


Yeah it's cheaper but what good is saving money if you can't hit what you aim at,talking about Brown Bear,Golden,I'll have to try it.
