I can't tell if the markings look different from some of the other daniel defense rails I have seen and I am curious if it is the real deal or an airsoft version or a knock of or what. Thanks.

Can't really tell, but something doesn't look quite right. Best bet to compare to photos on the DD website or reputable retailers like BCM's website.

I believe that DD like many companies does authorize and license an airsoft version that's made in China, and I'm sure there are complete knockoffs as well.

The barrel nut in your photos doesn't look like the right (real) barrel nut.

I also think the finish looks rather dull. I have an Omega-X rail and the finish is surprisingly smooth and borderline glossy for being anodizing. I've also noticed that Daniel Defense doesn't polish out all machining marks, so their rails and uppers (on the rail) show some tiny, very regular swirl machining marks, which a lot of other aluminum AR products don't have.

Savannah, GA on the old DD Rails I've seen was spelled all caps. The new DD Rails are marked:

    DANIEL DEFENSE, INC
    BLACK CREEK, GA. USA

Preceding the two lines of text is a US Flag the height of both lines of text. The markings are also somewhat subdued in color, rather than bright white. You could call DD and ask if they ever used a standard font, rather than all caps.

My dd omega also has an American Flag, for what it's worth.

Here is a pic from the DD website of the rail I believe the one in the first post is supposed to be.

Savannah is capitalized on the one pictured on the DD website. It also has T marks, R marks and L Marks.

The seller of the rail in top pic is representing it as a real DD rail but selling at a relatively low (but not absurd for used) price.

Girodin, call or e-mail DD. They make changes from time to time (like moving from Savannah to Black Creek). That could be an early DD M4 rail, but they can tell you for sure.

Well, Daniel Defense was very prompt and kind in answering my email inquiry. They told me it was an early model before they used T-marks and when the laser engraving was done slightly differently. I think that is great service from them to even bother answering my question. +1 for DD. I may go ahead and get this rail. I think I can live without T-marks for my purposes. What I want is a light weight high quality free float handgaurd that will let me mount a light, sing stud and AFG. From all I can read DD products fit the bill.

Daniel Defense is a real stand up company that makes one of the best AR's on the market (IMHO) and they have spectacular customer service.

I had a squib round a while back that caused a severe malfunction and actually blew out the PMag from the gun and left it in pieces on the ground. This was clearly a result of bad ammo but Daniel Defense asked almost no questions and promptly took care of me by sending me a brand new upper free of charge. They went above and beyond and that is rare to find in a company these days, it's also good to see a company that clearly takes pride in what they make.
