Is this fairly normal on THR?

Thank you for the reminder.
Because of this thread, I went looking for that case of .22 Quik-shock I was positive I'd bought but couldn't find.

Turns out I had created a new hidey-hole for ammo. (I knew about 2)
It was in there -- along with two cases of .45ACP.
Now when did I buy THAT?

I'm on a roll here. Maybe my hearing aids will turn up today.

Fud

I moved last summer from a home I lived in for 20 years. I was amazed at the stuff I came across that I had forgotten I had acquired.

Before a trip to west Texas a couple of years ago, I cleaned out my truck thoroughly searching for ammunition. A trip into Mexico was possible and I didn't want any problems. Between the cab and the toolbox, I got over a case of mixed calibers. Including ammunition for guns I don't own and none of my friends own. I'm still trying to figure that out. Only thing I can think of is that I bought the truck used and just didn't see all the ammo rolling around under the seats.

i got upset at myself when i was lookin for a gun to go shoot and then when i couldnt find it i realized i had sold it.:banghead: and then just last week i found 2 boxes of 00 buck and a 3 of boxes of 9mm. got the same feeling when ya find $20 that fell behind the dresser from 2 years ago!

Nice timing for this thread, I got clipped on the shoulder this morning by a box of WWB .45 auto when I was pulling a comforter down off a shelf in my closet. I have no idea when I bought it, nor do I remember putting it up on a 7 foot high shelf on top of a couple of comforters. I'm now a firm believer in the ammo fairy, now I just have to find out what she took in exchange seeing as I still have all my teeth :uhoh:

Get a good sized safe or secure a closet in your home. Store all of your guns and ammo and knives in there and go about normally. After about a year or more, pullout all of the stuff in your safe/closet. You will always come up with an, "Oh yeah, I forgot I got this."

Thanks to this thread, this morning I found 4 battle packs (1,200 rounds) of South African .223 ammo I didn't know I had.:)

Break out the .223 pistols.:D

One time while loading my car ready to go shooting I stumbled arcoss a large ziplock bag (1/2 gallon) full of 9mm rounds. Now the odd thing was, I don't own a 9mm and none of my friends could claim it either. So here was a bag of 70+ rounds of perfectly good 9mm ammo that had just been sitting in the trunk of my car:what: . Needless to say, we loaded up my friend's XD and Glock and burned through that ammo in a hurry (no a single dud), but to this day we still don't know where it came from.

I still leave the occasional quarter for the Ammo Fairy, but to no avail.

...don't you know about the Ammo Fairy?

Hahahaha... now there's an interesting mythical construct for this forum: the 'ammo fairy'.

Maybe s/he is not looking for money, but like the tooth fairy, wants to collect something different.

Try leaving a spent cartridge under your pillow and see what happens. :D

Hmm. I wonder if there's a deer rifle fairy?

"Here fairy, fairy, fairy....come out, come out, where ever you are. We need to talk!"

Matter Of Fact I Did

I was looking through a hall closet for air conditioner filters (hit 90 the other day!), and found (on a hanger) a hunting vest I use for white wing outings way over on the far right behind rain coats, etc.

In the two lower..larger pockets, were 48 12 ga. #7.5 shot shells! :O)

Take Care

A couple weeks ago I found @200 rounds of S&B 7.62x51 NATO I forgot I had. They have thesame color box as my many boxes of Czech light ball 7.62x54R.

there was a thread a while back to the effect "how much ammo do you have?"

Lotsa guys didn't know +/- 1,000 rounds. I couldn't tell you how much I have within a thousand

If you know how much ammo you have, you don't have enough
