Is this normal for Classic Firearms?

I realize that they are busy, but this is really weird:
I ordered a gun I liked on 11/15/20, they did not have my LGS’ FFL on file so I uploaded it the same night, took them 8 days to verify it, then I made few phone calls and emails to see when finally I can expect it to be shipped, rep told me over the phone that it is all good now and he is emailing shipping department, only to receive email tonight that they are cancelling my order bc item is now out of stock now and they will be processing a refund to my credit card. So while they were verifying FFL ( again I uploaded it the same day when I placed the order) , they were not able to ship gun in the next 9 days after FFL verification and they probably sold it to someone else. What the heck ?
at this point I am so disappointed in the process and efficiency that I am ok with getting my money back instead of the actual gun

I thought that once they charge your card the gun is held for you until shipping and taken out of inventory, not being sold to the next person

The last time I bought a gun from them, it came in like 3 days and I was very happy with the Beretta 81 they sold me. I would post a pic, but it looks terrible for some reason, but in "real life", it looks barely used. The main "issue" is there was a sticker on the grip and so far, nothing I've tried has gotten the residue totally off. There's a slight sticky spot and I'm afraid to try anything else to get it off than a bunch of gun solvents, lubes and "Goo-Gone", which I was scared would eat the grip.

I stopped being a fan when fat benny started his lying about how great and original their surplus guns were in the you tube video's. I saw plenty of humped up trash but not much original.

What you can use depends on the grip material. If it is "plastic", you might try removing that side, use some steam (like an old-fashioned iron but WITHOUT TOUCHING the grip), and scrub with an old tooth brush. If you dip the brush in some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol after steaming the adhesive residue, you might be able to remove more.
If the grips are wood, both the steam and alcohol can damage the wood finish, but you might have to do that, then "re-varnish" the wood. Removing the existing finish, to which the residue adheres, may actually make it easier to remove. Then refinish.
Good luck !

That is disconcerting. I’ve had nothing but great service from them. I have ordered two surplus handguns, one new 9mm AR pistol and assorted accessories w/o a problem.

Not to trivialize your problem but 2020 has been a rough year for a lot of on line retailers and many businesses in general.

Don’t see why they couldn’t have put one on hold while/after they were verifying your FFL. Seems like that would be standard practice.

A ball was dropped but I doubt it was out of malice or incompetence, more likely low staff numbers due to COVID-19 and an unprecedented amount of orders.

At least they’re refunding you.

Not the first time I've ever heard them taking days to verify a FFL. If my FFL wasn't on file I probably would have found another one thats close or just not order from.

Received some Glock mags from Natchez last week with some inventory sticker on them that left a residue. I used Rem Oil and it came right off.

I've never had a problem with Classic, always have been great to deal with. But I've heard other stories that say otherwise. But your story really sucks, sorry to hear it.

I don't get the "at least they are refunding you comments," ummm...yeah otherwise it would be theft.

No. All I’m saying is that if I’m buying a gun, my focus and attention is on it. That’s my shooting world, at least at the time. When I was really into accumulating guns, that was my major focus.

Then I worked at the LGS. Actually kinda ruined me, as guns were just another commodity. A gun mean no more than a slab of meat does to a butcher. I thought it would be awesome to be around guns full time.

Not so much after a short while

Recently someone on another forum bought the Zigana they had on sale weeks ago. It's advertised as new and with night sights and his model the night sights were dead and none of parts have matching numbers. He called SDS, the manufacturer, and they said these were "close out" guns made from whatever parts they had that wouldn't work in other models.

So, technically it may be new, but the night sights, I mean, unless you're just calling them night sights as a generic description without promising they glow in the dark via tritium, then the item isn't sold as advertised.

IMO, they're are the shadiest of shady and I much prefer to work with a seller on an auction site who will show me pictures of what he's selling and give me a hassle free return period that doesn't have to go thru a slimy customer service dept. I was close to getting a Beretta 81 from them last year and I'm glad I didn't because who knows what dorked up thing I would have received. Instead I got an 81BB from a seller on GB for maybe $50 more and have been very happy ever since.

Try rubbing it off with an eraser, or apply mayonnaise and live it on for about 15 to 20 minutes and rinse.

Thanks, I got most of it off with a little plastic paddle thing. I just sort of shaved it off, and used some oil to get the last of the adhesive off. Looks great. I forgot to take a pic until I had put it back in the safe and it's not easy to get to without unpacking a lot of stuff I have in front.

I’ve bought one or two guns from Classic and the service was good and prompt. However... they’re not known for truth in advertising or great service, and their business practices have ruined at least one of their smaller suppliers in the past, so..... I personally only chance ordering from them if they are offering something I really want that nobody else has, or at a price that’s so much cheaper, it’s worth the gamble.
