Saw this photo on CNN's website in relation to a proposed gun law. Not gonn'a link to the story because that isn't the question, and it would quickly get off topic. These sure look like Glocks, but with what appears to be a safety on the slide.

I know the military requested a manual safety during the latest trials before the Sig was chosen. Could this be a photo, or artists rendering of a prototype? There are no markings on the slide or anywhere else that I can see.

Look at the dimples near the edge of the selector. The real Glock 18s use them to denote the difference between semi and full auto. I don't think it is a safety at all. As to being a real G18, probably not. I would guess it is a poor markup or photoshop. CNN could say the sky is blue and I would go outside to make sure.

I didn't think about G18. That makes sense as well as them using an Air Soft as a photo prop.

For what it’s worth here’s an image of Glocks MHS submission. The safety location and design matches that of the Brazilian G22 with a safety they made a few years ago as well.

Those “Glocks” look like airsoft guns to me too, with the G18 happy fun time switch.

These are not photos of the submitted design. They are replicas of the G18 because that model caters to fantasies and fiction better than a standard, readily available Glock. OP's question has been answered.
