It says WD40 Long-term Corrosion Inhibitor lasts 1 year on metal inside and 2 years on metal outside. Sounds like it'd be great for guns, but I'm not sure.

    Or is there better?

Great product for corrosion blocking, but it isn't the best lube so remember to lightly lube where needed. The only thing I've found equivalent is a microcrystaline wax suspension that you squirt on and allow to dry and buff the haze off.

The test done by our member showed superior performance from the product compared to just about everything out there.

Personally, I use Frog Lube. But, there others and they all have their fans.

I used it years ago...until my guns gummed up. For looong-term storage, I use "Rig" gun grease, silicone guns socks, Zerust bags, and I reduce the humidity.

I don't believe the product he is talking about was around years ago.

    Yep

The product wasn't available until a couple of years ago. It is NOT WD-40, but it is from the same company.

While WD-40 Specialist Corrosion Inhibitor is relatively new, it was included in the cited test and performed very well indeed.

WD-40 will absolutely gum up a gun once the solvent dries out, but this new product from the WD-40 company should be fine for long term storage of guns/.

I keep my long guns waxed with a good paste wax . Same with my carry pistols . Hunters where I came from always did this . Rain snow sleet rifle or shot gun was protected .

Wax a steel washer and put a good gun oil on another. Lay both out in weather for a while and report back.
