Itching for a .22 Mag

I have no experience with the Taurus 22wmr models, but would expect the DA trigger pull would be similar to most 22lr trigger pulls. In other words, very heavy to insure reliable ignition.
 
I'm thinking of getting one too. The 992 with 22 mag and 22lr cylinders. I would also like to hear from owners of Taurus DA rimfire revolvers.

I've had mixed luck with Ruger SAs

Canted barrels

Excessive BC Gap

Crooked frames on SBH and SRH (Entire gun replaced by Ruger both occasions)

Cross threaded bolt on ejector housing. (Dealer took back)

All that considered I'd be willing to consider the single 9 since Ruger has great service.

I thoroughly enjoy my Single Nine.

I have a Taurus 94 2". It took about 1,000 rounds to smooth out the action. The single action pull is a little stiff but crisp. The double action pull is now smooth, but HEAVY! Probably upwards of 20 pounds. Accuracy is good.

I'm not sure why anyone would specifically want a DA 22lr revolver, except possibly as a training tool for a DA centerfire revolver. 22lr DA is better executed in a semi-auto platform, IMHO.
 
I passed up the chance for a S&W Stainless .22 WMR (648?) a few years ago, before Smith prices went through the roof. Still kicking myself.

As to why anyone would want a DA .22LR, I can answer that in two words:

.22mag taurus Tracker

I have a Taurus Tracker in .22mag I bought it for $300.00 about 4 months ago. It was new in the box,and is very nice looking, trigger not to bad, the down side is that .22mag ammo hard to find. If you find the ammo it's going to be about $10.00 to $13.00 for a box of 5o rounds.:eek: Compared to regular 22 long rifle ammo $2.95 for a box of 50.the mag ammo is to $$ for me. I haven't even shot the gun yet.
 
I'd love to see how many rounds a .22 rimfire GP100 would hold. If, that is, Ruger would ever make one.
 
I haven't seen a Single Nine, but it would be appealing. The Single Ten is really a nice Ruger SA 22. I am not a big SA fan with 22's due mostly to loading and unloading. But the rate of fire and reloading with the mags would make the Single Nine a pretty good piece. I wouldn't plink with 22 mags.

I know that all Taurus guns are not junk. But I just can't bring myself to buy one. I would be looking for a Colt Trooper Mark III in 22 Mag. It is a fine revolver. S&W does make a light weight 22 Mag, but I would rather have the Colt. An old S&W M48 would be nice however. Pricey these days as are the Colts even though it is probably the least expensive of the discontinued Colt revolver models.
 
I have had a Taurus 992 stainless steel with 6.5" barrel for almost a year. It is heavy, it is very accurate, it is 9 shot and I am very happy with it. Swapping cylinders is very easy with the push of a button. I almost always shoot SA but like the double action revolvers for quicker loading with speed loaders. Most would probably consider the trigger heavy for DA shooting. My 13 year old granddaughter really enjoys shooting it.
 
I've gotta go with the Ruger Single-nine.

I know you wanted a DA, but I've never had a DA .22/.22mag that didn't have a DA pull that needed two hands and a friend to pull.

Plus with training, you could become almost as quick with a SA as with a DA.

I wonder if manufacturere=s will have to doe=wnsize all these 9, 10, and 12 shot cylinders or if they'll get grandfathered in?
Won't bother me as my guns hold 5 or 6.

I have the Taurus 4" 941 in 22wmr. Had it for many years with no issues. The DA trigger is about as bad as they come, but SA is light and smooth. This thing is more accurate than my Single Six.
 
I was kind of drooling over a surprisingly-handsome "Target Pathfinder" by Charter Arms the other day. Yes, it's in .22LR, but I think they make the Pathfinder in WMR, don't they?
This one had a four-inch barrel, satin finish stainless construction, and an adjustable rear sight. I think they are still limited to six rounds.
