The Ithaca M37 Defender arrived today. Everything is as expected. Fit, finish, and overall quality are excellent. The wood is Black Walnut with a satin finish. The metal finish is Perma Guard.
The barrel is 18.5", cylinder choke. I had Ithaca install the barrel band attachment to the magazine tube. The trigger guard, and assembly is all metal, and there is "NO" trigger disconnector!

Is the barrel band attachment included or costs extra?

Oh, now that's just a fantastic looking shotgun. Congratulations. Let us know how it shoots, please. Are you going to put a sling on it?

My Dealer didn't charge me for it.
No, I don't like slings on my long guns.
Not with my Ithaca Mr.! Get your own! :D

Very nice fit and finished. I am quite fond of the originals (Own 2) but I AM impressed indeed. How much? And How long did you have to wait for delivery? Nice piece for sure!

I was thinking of getting an older one and cutting it down to 18.5" for use as a camp gun. Stick it in a scabbard and use it when necessary. Do you think the Ithaca would fit the bill? Or should I just stick a PG on my Mossberg 500 and use that?

Nice gun, the Defenders look so much better with that barrel clamp, and not having a disconnector is a fun bonus.

While I'd still prefer to have a removable barrel, I'm pretty much sold at this point. I just don't know if I want a traditonal wood stocked model or go for the telescoping pistol gripped setup as below.

Nice shotgun! I love the wood furniture and the Perma Guard finish.

Ok, ready for the dumb question of the day? Where is the ejection port on the Ithicas? On the bottom of the receiver?

Is that a new current production design? Really it has a non removable barrel? The wood is nice. What part is the sling/barrel clamp? Also a new factory part? I have never seen one of those, who makes it?
