I really didn't want to do this and really don't care what people say to it but I feel its time to calm down.
Times are not as bad as we thought they were.
I think a big thing people need to remember is politicians hope to get re-elected. Putting new bans into law now will destroy their chances of re-election.
No doubt keep your alerts up and stay on top of things but take a load off as well.
I attend many charitable benefits that include many many Washington political officials including our Governor and many others who right now are against weapons bans. Maybe they are learning from past mistakes? Who knows, but right now I think we are pretty safe.
This ammo hording and weapons hording needs to stop and we are all only making it worse by doing so. Myself included. I attended a gun show today where weapons with an $800 retail are being sold for $1600.
Sings of get your guns before Obama does etc... All a ploy to get you to pay outrageous prices for things you may not need.
$32 for a box of 380ACP Blazer Brass I can get at Wal-mart for $10.

If you have negative feedback for me, please feel free to post it. At this point I am just so frustrated about the whole thing I really don't care.
Consider this my venting session for the month.
 
Im sick of everything being out of stock. If you are worried join the NRA like me. I don't think the problem lies in the people over purchasing. I feel that this extremely high demand will improve the firearms companies for the future and make them produce many more firearms. So when we get a super Democrat anti rights president again we might actually have cheap, and in stock ammunition and firearms. Remember guys God wont let us down. ;)

You can tell who has the most efficient production of handgun ammo right? It is CCI Blazer. I know they are dirty but they are like the only thing you can find at walmart, carters country, etc. Now if every arms company was like CCI Blazer life would be good haha.

I think that we need to take a step back once and a while and really see whats going on. People think that the apocalypse is coming, or something. All of this hype is just a part of a cycle. Remember fallout shelters? "Duck and cover!":what: The world was going to end back then too. But, it didn't...and it won't now. There's no need to stock up before your guns and ammo get taken away from you because it won't happen. The best thing to do would to just go about your gun/ammo purchasing like normal and keep the shooting sport what it is supposed to be...fun.
 
No negative feed back for you, but I agree 100%. It wasn't too long ago that you could buyany firearm under SRP. If people would stop paying the inflatted prices of opprotunistic dealers the prices will have to drop back to normal. I reload and I can't find large pistol primers, I refuse to buy them at $65.00 per K. I went to a gun shop this past weekend and the owner said he refuses to increase the price of his inventory because of availabilty. He will get my buisness in the future.
 
I am almost sorry that I bought my first gun during this "rush." I didn't even realize it was happening until I went into the gun store to pick it up, and even before then I asked around for what I wanted and kept hearing "Times are tough right now" So I got lucky pretty much.
Yes, I wish things would in fact calm down, the pres got his butt kicked with the brass shredding, and now the rest of the anti-gunners are shutting up cause America won't stand for it, left or right wing. So, lets all slow down and enjoy going to the range and not be paranoid for a bit.
I just don't like it cause I can't go shooting with my dad without spending at least 50 bucks for a half hour. Last year it wasn't like this at ALL! :mad:

I understand you are frustrated and want to vent. Don't be frustrated. Enjoy the fact that you are living in interesting times. Revel in the strangeness of seeing a wal-mart ammo case that looks full but actually has boxes of shot shells in every position to fill space. Enjoy the game of, "how long will that black rifle stay on the shelf?" (For the record: Black Rifles at the local Academy are typically gone the next day. The local Cabela's had a stack for over a week. In both cases the sticker price was the same today as it was 6 months ago...the stores aren't charging extra but demand is definitely up.)

It is a privilege to live through weirdness. Be glad you have that opportunity and enjoy it while it lasts.

As for the rest...you need to step away from the flea markets if they bother you. Gun shows and the like. Guess what...such markets always have absurd prices for no good reason. It has to do with something called economics. If you can sell a few items at a higher price you are often better off compared to selling a bunch at low prices. Any sane person will figure that out and do what is best for them...only a fool would try to stop them. It is also funny when people get it wrong. I used to entertain myself by going to swap meets (the free kind...I just don't understand paying $8 to shop at a flea market/"gun show") and there was always a healthy supply of people trying to charge more than retail for used junk. That's life. Pawn shops are the same way and always have been. Get over it or learn to shop at actual retailers. Places like Cabela's and Academy have not raised their prices more than the typical year-to-year inflation adjustments (inflation has been horrible recently) and some prices have actually gone down.

As for hoarding...unless you can teach me how to turn dirt and used tires into weapons and ammunition you should resign yourself to the fact that I'll get whatever I think I want or need whenever I can. It has nothing to do with politics or "the times" being as bad as you thought they would be...frankly, things are exactly what I thought they would be...it's about me choosing to spend my money in a way that makes me happy. See the theme here? "It's my life, get one of your own."

It makes me happy to take people shooting so I keep enough ammo on hand to do so...and I buy when I see it at good prices so that I'll be able to do so next month too. It makes me happy to have certain guns so I buy them too. I haven't paid a dime extra (in fact I've picked up some bargains recently) and even if I had what business is it of yours? I live my life, you live yours, and if circumstances right now aren't making you happy figure out how YOU can be the change you want to create...because if you can't be then you are on entirely the wrong track.
 
I'm not stopping, stepping back, or slowing down, especially with the recent flu outbreak happening in Mexico. It's just one more event to add to our list to keep us wary and on alert. I'll make reasonable choices when purchasing firearms and ammunition, factoring in the current economy and supply and demand. People all over the country are waking up and sensing that things are not all right with the world, and a common reaction to this is purchasing firearms and ammo. We need to shepherd these new converts to the proper handling, use, and storage of their newly acquired weapons, and also educate them on the history of gun ownership and the part it played in shaping the Constitution and the Nation. Yes indeed, these are exciting times we are living in, and I for one will keep my eyes and ears open, and watch it all unfold, and rise to the occasion when called for!
 
I know what Im gonna do. Start reloading. What is bugging me more is that everyone is blaming the president for all of this. Yes, he didn't help and yes I don't agree with his gun views. Fine. But he's doing lots of good with other issues. As I do feel gun rights are important, I think he figured it out that whatever he wants to do with gun rights is going to take a back seat to the issues that are more prevalent.
This doesn't really affect me at all, I am not a hardcore shooter, or go to comps or anything. But since I am a new gun owner, I feel I should be proficient with my firearm or get a -2 penalty for my attack rolls(DND humor if you didn't get it)
And that is why I am doing lots of dry fire practicing

Another important thing to consider is that now that the Supreme court has begun to see Second amendment cases we could possibly see all arms restrictions and regulations dropped. As it is these laws infringe upon our second amendment rights, and now would be a very good time to have cases passed to the supreme court on these subjects. If this is to ever happen in our lifetime, expect to see your AR-15's back down to $200-250.
 
I really don't think obama would even try any sort of ban again (not to mention he already said we can relax, there was no plan to), he's trying to find ways to generate money for the economy, so why would he waste our tax dollars on something that has already failed before?

I am litterally down to less then 50 bullets, I just bought a 442 and cannot find a box of speer gold dots if my life depended on it, its getting old
 
It does not matter if you feel the fear is real or not but a large number of Americans do. They look at the way things are going with job losses going up every week, foreclosures are still climbing across the US, unemployment is starting to run out in many states and many law enforcement agencies are having to cut costs and officers due to lack of funds. Yes the president did inherent a 1.8 trillion dollar debt and instead of fixing it he added over 2 trillion more with out reading the bill as promised. Then we have a drug war going on at our southern border and instead of closing the border (and it should have happened 10 year ago) to stop the flow of drugs and firearms, he wants to sign a treaty that would do more damage to the second amendment than any assault weapons ban ever could. If you look at the Article 6 all treaties are final and are the law of the land. So yes people are nervous. Then to add to the fear they did ban them once and have said ever sense it expired that they will do it again and make it worse and permanent.

I work weekends in a local sporting good store and people are not just buying guns, ammo and reloading gear there buying camping gear as well, candles, lanterns, sleeping bags and foodstuff. When I ask why they say they would rather look foolish and have it than be foolish and not if it gets any worse! I may not completely agree with what is going on but I do understand. I know several people who have purchased small travel trailers figuring if they loose their house they will have a place to live even if it is in some tent city.

People fear uncertainty and so far many feel the government hasn’t really shown them they have nothing to fear.

Merely by voicing this you will be labelled a "fellow traveller", "blind fool" or my personal favourite "A paid disinformation agent of the Communist-Democrat One World Government cabal". (I actually go that one but I did clean up the spelling and wipe some of the spit/drool off it).....:evil:

Expect to hear things like

Heller and Nordyke were bad, won us nothing and are a deliberate ploy to impose "restrictions".

THEY (almost invariably in capitals) are just waiting and it's all a plan

THEY are going to make all primers expire in a year/register all firearms/make reloading illegal without a licence/re-install the old expired AWB/make all gun shows illegal etc etc

HE (I won't bother with all the variants of Barry/Osama etc) has a cunning plan to.....(insert any or all of the above). I'm sure it's more cunning than a cunning thing with extra cunning sauce on top. In fact so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a fox......

"I was told by XXXX (an unattributable and unidentified but REALLLLLLY good source) that the ammo/component/firearm shortage is all a plan by YYYYYYY who have bought/stockpiled/restricted.....It's all a plot I tells ya.

When I was at the Gun Show/Gun Shop/Range last week, I was told by Billy-Bob that HE/THEY will restrict/register/steal/confiscate/stop the sale of XXXXX better buy 'em now. Oh did I mention I have some I could let you have at a great price.

They are going to stuff the Supreme Court with Lib-Dem gun stealers....We're doomed

The shortage has been driven by fear, paranoia, greed, profiteering, news reporting and good old Market Economics 101.

The "Price of Eternal Vigilance" is sleep deprivation and bad decision making processes.

The current administration is currently wrestling with large numbers of alligators the size of Godzilla and whilst we all know there are a statistically significant number of actors who would like to Do something" on firearms, there is no central will or support currently.

The three central tenets of the political caste are to gain power and authority, enjoy the privileges of power and authority and get voted back in again to continue to enjoy the rewards and privileges.

To take the analogy of the civil rights movement, we, after Heller and Nordyke, are at the Brown v Board of Education stage. With focus and energy applied tactically to support strategic goals we will move forward, but in exactly the same manner as the civil right movement there will be pain, problems and temporary set backs.

Be aware, be focussed, don't go off half cocked at the latest half baked theory, chase your pols and remind then they can be voted out......


Oh, and try and maintain a sense of humour now and again.........:D
