If you like a Browning Hi-Power, but aren't sold on Condition One carry, another one to look at would be the CZ75 family. DA/SA, and the looks and ergos owe a great deal to the Hi-Power.

That's what pretty much led me to the CZ P01! Great design, top notch ergos, especially with the grip portion of the frame, and a pretty decent DA/SA trigger out of the box.

If you're referring to my P01, those are the standard factory grips. This pair, Coco Bolo with full checkering, are from CZ Custom.

I have a PCR that likes me. The only weird thing is the slide is inside the frame and racking can be a problem for me.

I am familiar with the CZ slide inside of frame design - how does that make the slide more difficult for you to operate?

Take a look at the pic the serations on the slide her about 1/2 the height of most other guns and the frame is nearly as wide as the slide.

Update -
The Walther P99 has landed. I've been shooting it for about 2 weeks ; round count at 300.

My early results were not encouraging (impatient , I know...) , but things are coming around. Feels great in the hand. Grip texture is not great , but a bit of grip tape here and there takes care of that. Da trigger is long , quite smooth , but does stack near the end of travel. The sa trigger is just like a revolver ... sort of. The first 150 rounds or so the sa trigger felt odd - it is striker fired - but I noticed today that I had forgotten about it. That's progress. I think I am between backstrap panels ; the mid size (shown) results in a slightly short "pull" right about at trigger break , the large one felt a bit too large. I may try the large again in the interest of having the best part of my finger on the trigger at break. I definitely like the sa/da option ; da with no safety is my preferred carry condition. No dingus , no grip safety - good and good. I am quite pleased with the decock control atop the slide , and I think that the paddle style mag release is just great. Mags eject freely , new mag enters with ease. Sights are reasonable ; rear has drift adjustment screw , there are 3 optional front sights (4 total) for elevation adjustment. I have not needed to swap front sights.

2 weeks ago I would use all the area of a paper plate ,(10-11 yds) , even miss it sometimes in the course of a 15 rd mag. Today's target indicates progress. Even managed to hit a few clays set on the backstop berm at 50 yards. I am way ahead of where I was with the PPS , so I'd have to say So Far So Good.
