an actor that actually gets it.

    quote:

"The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will loose."

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a blaster at your side, that much I'll concede. But a glock? Oh come on. Nothing glock has ever made could possibly come close to the cool factor of the light saber. You'd need gold desert eagles akimbo or possibly a pair of those SMGs from Halo2 that hold 60 rounds each.

Nothing could replace the light saber except...

    The beautifully crafted 1911!

Even the emporer wouldn't stand the thought of disrespecting the holiness of the 1911! Darth vader would have taken one look at that masterpiece and declared, "Obi Wan has taught you well!"

Jones was raised in rural Mississippi. His family was threatened by White Night Riders and kept many firearms about the house in self-defense.

He has long been an outspoken advocate of the RKBA.

Don't know about the family being terrorized but Jones spent most of his childhood in Michigan. Moved there when he was 5.

Either way a fine fellow, solid citizen, Army Ranger and a damn fine actor to boot. His first screen role was in my favorite movie of all time, playing Lt Lothar Zogg the bombadier in Dr. Strangelove.
He is a credit to ALL Americans and someone I that exceedingly am proud to have as a fellow citizen.

I have read statements from James Earl Jones, who said he keeps guns in the house because he is affraid white people will try to kill him. I guess it comes from growing up in the rural south during the height of the KKK power n the 1930-40s. His wife is a know anti-gun zealot, who freaquently supports anti-gun laws and politicans.

"I am a member of the National Rifle Association, but not a political member. I just throw the political mail from the NRA into the trash. Charlton Heston campaigns on behalf of the NRA. He says, "Here I stand". When it comes to the right wing politics of the NRA, I don't get into that. I just believe in my right to have a gun in my house. Ceci [wife Cecilia Hart], on the other hand, is a member of the anti-gun lobby, so we pretty much cancel each other out." — actor James Earl Jones in his autobiography Voices and Silences (James Earl Jones and Penelope Niven), page 363.

"When I came out of the Army, I brought every weapon I was trained to use — my .45, my M1, my carbine. I fully expected back in the repressive 1950s that someday I might be responsible for a cadre of people in an urban riot. I came out and heard Malcolm X warn the people to go out and get their shotguns. Hell, I thought people had their shotguns already. I came out of the Army fully expecting the worst. — actor James Earl Jones in his autobiography Voices and Silences (James Earl Jones and Penelope Niven)

Very interesting. Mr. Jones has an anti wife - just like a few people on THR. ;)

Very weird how some people forget recent history. Isn't one of the most famous pictures of Malcolm X the one where he's holding an M1 Carbine?

He has, without doubt, the most compelling male speaking voice I've ever heard. I'd pay good money to hear him read the dictionary. It's good to know that his views on RKBA are congruent with my own.

One of the finest soliloquies ever committed to film. I mist up every time I see that scene.

If I recall correctly, I believe his wife is also a pretty avid anti-gunner. Should make for an interesting marriage....

Same type of marriage as John Carville and Mary Mataline(sp?), just shows that opposites do attract.

Sam, nice John Galt quote, haven't seen that one since I read Atlas Shrugged.
