As I have ordered a LNIB - Janz EM357... and have never seen one in person... I am scouring the internet... for information... Interesting enough, there is next to no user information... No review on YouTube or videos of. firing the weapon... etc... There is one video. showing the trigger action... That's it...

Meanwhile, I study the photos of my Janz... and I. see the pinned barrel and then what is unusual with the cylinder... Instead of recessed chambers... the. chamber face is recessed... Interesting...

Anyone, with knowledge of this cylinder setup...?

"The Rohm, RG Model 63 Cylinder .38 Cal. Blue Type II. 6 Shot, recessed chamber face. Entire Chamber Face is recessed, not individually recessed."

I have a Matt finish .357. It is the same way. Not much on them but the few reviews some gun mags did on them.

    Colt used a similar technique.

I seem to remember some Colt
    Troopers had recessed cylinders.
It closes the gap at the back of
the cylinder with the recoil shield,
leaving less of a tell tale view of
    the brass when loaded.

The appearance is the same as
    a closed Model 19 cylinder
    through dash 4.

    Thanx Nightlord for the picture.
I believe it was a feature on
the Trooper Mark III, maybe also
    the Mark V.

Janz does a very good job fitting their ejector star. At first glance I couldn't see the seam between the cylinder and the star on my phone.

True... I had. to look hard to see the seam, too... even knowing it had to be there... it made me wonder...

The quality of materials and workmanship on the Janz is incredible.

    Really?
I did not think S&W recessed rims on any centerfires but Magnums, and not that any more. But I don't have a 25-5 to compare.

The whole recessed cylinder face was earlier used by Harrington and Richardson .22s.

None of it is of any use to a centerfire that I can tell, except to show you are getting a High Quality Gun. Not like there are folded head Magnum cartridges to worry about splitting.

Iver Johnson recessed rims like most made for .22 HV but had the "flash control cylinder." with a flange on the cylinder to cover the gap.

Come to think about it, I believe you're right, I must have mismarked the photo, must be my 28-2, I don't think my 25-5 .45 Colt is not recessed.
