My dad just asked me to help him sell his shotgun. It is a mod 20 JC Higgins made by High Standard. It is in very good shape. Has vent rib, jewlled bolt, and a Power Pac Choke/Compensator setup.
In checking on line I read a comment that it was not good for modern plastic wad loads due to the 1" free space between the end of the barrel and the beginning of the choke tube.
The commnet was that the plastic could get shaved off and clog the compensator. It is a great shooting un, but if it isn't safe with newer loads I hate to sell it to just anyone.

Why not just cut the choke/compensator off if you're worried about it?

It'd be a shame to do that - personally, I like the look of those PowerPac chokes. (I've always considered my M20 to be my "red-neck hunting gun".)

Perhaps a better alternative would be to just shoot *fibre* wads through it...

Regards,

Mark.

Hit up google and see if this is a well substantiated problem, or if it's just one random guy on the internet with some funny ideas.

I checked Google and read several posts on this gun. It appears to be a very good shotgun and usually reasoanbly priced. It is really smooth and solid feeling. I think I'll list it in the private sales section.
