in the conclusion, Stephen Baldwin and another guy are carring around a revolver with a silencer on it. :rolleyes: And no, it's not a Nagant:neener:

Coulda done better.
 
i noticed that and got a real kick out of it. by i think my favorite part was seein a baldwin gettin kicked in the nads! go selleck!:neener:
 
Dang, no one's perfect. But this had some GOOD moments.

"You wanna try that with your finger off the trigger?

"Don't shoot and stand still, shoot and move."

"To win the fight, front sight."

Oh, and guess what gun he carried. :D
 
If I remember right, in the Magnium PI show, when he carried, he carried a Colt 1911. Don't remember from the Parker books, what Stone carried, I was more into the Spenser books he wrote.
The Colt may be a Tom Selleck thing.
 
I watched it and liked it. I did notice the revolver with silencer, though.

There was one real good close-up shot of Jesse Stone's pistol. Definately a 1911-type, but I couldn't tell you what brand it was.
 
I'll actually watch these. I generally hate TV. OF COURSE the wife likes them, too. Can you guess why? :D

As to the silenced revolver. Bet that prop was available and has been used in a multitude of TV/stage/screen productions.

Did anyone notice that when Stone was unloading groceries from his car, he scanned the area with a flashlight first.

Jesse also did a "tactical reload" after demonstrating his "move and shoot" technique . . . though it was rather leisurely.

On the matter of silenced revolvers . . . IIRC, several decades ago, one of our spook agencies had some S&W M&P revolvers built with vitually zero cylinder gap - the idea was that a suppressed revolver, without the reciprocating slide, could be made quieter than a semi-auto pistol. Silencers did work with these, but they bound the gun up tight almost immediately.
 
I always thought you could use a silencer on a really tight fit (like freedom Arms) revolver. Anyone know how well that works?

I enjoyed the movie also except for the commercial breaks that seemed to take forever to end.

At first, I raised my brows at the 'silenced revolver' too. Then I thought about it a little. While a revolver can't be totally silenced, it can certainly be suppressed quite a bit. Notice that the chosen meeting place was remote so the slight crack of sound from the cylinder gap would not be heard or at least not sound like a gunshot. Add to that, no spent case ejected to be used as evidence later and it starts to make sense. Since the revolver never got fired in the movie, we can't know if it was used as a 'handy prop' or some thought went into the choice of weapon.

Hopefully, how ever many movies are made in this series, they will come out on DVD so I can watch them sans commercials.
 
The first one is out now on DVD, I saw it last week at a BlockBuster, I can not remember the name now though.

I liked the way Mr.Selleck acted. No BS, just simple straight
answers. I liked the way he was dealing with the young teenage
girl.

Again no BS, just straight from the hip. I know he follows
a storyline, but since his portrayal as Gen Eisenhower at
D-DAY, my respect for him as a actor has gone two thumbs
way up. I also like his westerns. Just my 0.02

If more Jesse Stone's come on, I'm there. I also liked
Boomer. Always wanted a dog like that. Too bad he's
out of the picture so to speak.
 
Mr. Selleck is a supporter of the NRA and the RKBA. He's also a talented actor and a good audience draw. Ya gotta know the Hollywierd types just hate that!

Wish I'd won his Quigley rifle in that American Hunter contest some time back..... And yes, he is a strong RKBA supporter and we need more of them out there in Hollyweird.

I thought the same thing, all those Baldwin boys seem like arrogant jerks.
Then I remembered an article in a christian magazine about the younger Baldwin, the one in the movie, being the speaker at several christian youth rallys. Talking about how he decided to follow Jesus after a life of drugs and sex. He seemed sincere.

You can still think he's a jerk but I wonder sometimes if people get judged too fast by how they "appear" on TV. Could be miles away from how they really are in real life. On these reality shows, he acts like a real idiot and goofball but I got lotsa friends who are idiots and goofballs and we have a great time.

I put in for that, too, figuring I'd put it up for auction immediately, and still come out ahead.

IIRC, the NRA put it's value at $100,000 . . . if you won it and decided to keep it, the NRA's $100k figure would likely be considered fair market value, considered as income and you'd be expected to pay tax on it.

Nice rifle, but there's no way I'd ante up around $30k in taxes for it . . . but by auctioning it off via some reputable firm, I'd have established the rifle's actual value, and only have to pay a percentage of that price.

The cash left over would let me buy a lot of other very high quality guns . . . though they wouldn't have "MQ" engraved on the side. ;)
