• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

I've got my eye on a Seekins Precision Havoc PH2 in the urban shadow camo patern .. the 165gr accubond long range ammo and the 22" barrel will more than handle anything I will ever shoot at here in AL and since I've got friends in Utah, Wyoming and Montana if I ever get lucky enough to go hunting with any of them the 6.8 western can do the job out there too.
I've seen a bunch of ya'll poo on the 6.8 western but from what I've read and seen I just can't cast any shade at it...of course my main deer rifle is a 6.5 grendel lol
here's the rifle I'm looking at

In my humble opinion, it’s finally the twist rate the 270 Winchester always wanted… but, I have almost no experience with the new western. It’s interesting. The rifle looks cool. Didn’t they just come out with a version three?

I agree with @JmacD. This is the twist the 270 should be.

I‘d grab one, except I had PacNor screw on a 25” 1x8 twisted pipe onto my old M70 action and I’m quite content slinging 140s with ease all season long.

It's not the western we poo poo, it's the late entry into the lr fast twist game with the .277 😁! The 3 prcs and the creeds cover all those bases it's an answer to a problem that didn't exist. I have nothing against the western, I have a .270wsm, and it does what I ask of it well, but when the barrel burns out, it'll be replaced with a .280ai more than likely (though that exact barrel will likely be swapped with the .300wm because of my extremely limited options on that action). The new fast twist .25s are cute and I can ALMOST talk myself into something like a fast twist .25creed, realistically if I can't do it with a .22, 6mm, 6.5mm, or 7mm, I'm just looking for .375 or .458 performance. It's not a bad concept, it's just hard to justify if you're already covering bases with other chamberings. That being said....just because I can't personally be sold on it does NOT mean I wouldn't put on my enabler cap to urge a fellow to add another gun to the stables and if the western is your excuse to do so then by all means carry on with much haste!!!

I just don't like the bullet selection for 6.8(.2770"). The best B.C. is about .640 Nosler, I think. It could be so much better with higher BC bullets.
That’s the ABLR? I think Berger has one that might beat it. Rumor has it that Hornady may come out with another in an addition to the 145grbin the eld-x line(but you know how rumors are🙄). Yup; there’s probably an 8twist 270win barrel in my future.
