Since the ban I decided to replace the tension nuts on my Bushmaster M17S that I goobered up with a muzzle device. I was originally going to go with a flash hider but after being unhappy with my rapid aimed fire results at the range I ended up settling on a muzzle brake.
Since I was getting a muzzle brake I figured I'd go ahead and splurge for the JP Enterprises unit and I don't regret it one bit. It completely eliminated muzzle rise and recoil is barely noticable. It is considerably louder, as one would expect, but it's also quite impressive with the cheap Wolf ammo I was using and the large puffs of smoke jetting out the sides of the brake.
Guestimating I'd say my time between shots was cut in half to hit a COM size target standing at 100 yards. I missed once in 20 rounds where as before I had the brake 3-4 misses were common. The miss was more due to the sulfer in my eyes from the Wolf ammo that it was not being able to get the next shot lined up.
Without the brake there is enough movement in the gun that I had to either time my shots as the gun came back down or I had wait until I was able to stabalize the gun again. Waiting for the gun to stabalize quadrupled my time between shots.
Overall I'm very happy with it. It was pricey but it does indeed work as advertised. An extremely effective brake. My only complaint is that the finish seems a bit thin but it's only really noticable in bright light. I plan on refinishing the whole gun in Gun-Kote anyway so it's a non-issue.
