Judge/Governor Hate

No, I dont see what you mean at all.

Might I suggest you actually get out and give one a good try sometime

Like I said in my first post, I'm glad people own a judge and the like.

The more vegan's and vegetarians in this world the better.

I won't own a judge, I won't become a vegan and the fact that people make these choices both frees up resources (meat and Rugers) for me and gives me something to laugh about.

Understand now?

I can still think the Judge/Governor is ugly without ever giving it a try - let alone "a good try.";)

LOL, no I still dont understand, unless this is some sort of LD insecurity thing. :)

Hey, never said they were a beauty queen. And what was that old song about never making a pretty woman your wife? :)

I bought a Chiappa Rhino a couple of years back, and swore it was the ugliest handgun Ive ever owned, which it was. Somewhat strange gun too, especially compared to a S&W. A little quality time and a good try with it, and it was shooting like a bitch. Still butt ugly too. And now that damn song is stuck in my head. :)

The problem with a lot of people is, they get stuck on this or that, and this or that is all they know. They are usually the most opinionated of the group with stuff like this too. ;)

Yeah I am glad they came along so my Webleys would not feel like they were the ugliest revolvers around. :D
I have an old Enfield 38/200. Rough and homely, but they shoot pretty good. Still think that Rhino gets the ugliest award though. :)

The Governor is basically the same size as a 4" 625, and its lighter to boot. Both guns use the same moon clips too.

True, they are about the same size, overall, but I’d rather have the longer barrel length. (Actually, N-Frames have a too-long reach to the trigger face, for my less-than-long trigger fingers, in DA mode, and if I have to cock the hammer, anyway, in order to fire the weapon while using a proper grip*, I’d rather carry a single-action revolver. So, that is two strikes against the Governor.)

* I wrecked my right hand, badly, in the latter half of the Eighties, training in DA mode with improperly-held N-Frames, when I used a Model 629, and then Models 58 and 657, as duty handguns. I did not realize what I was doing to myself, until later.

The Governor has a K frame grip, and if you use a grip that leaves the backstrap open, as the gun was designed, the reach for the trigger is basically the same for both frames. I shoot a number of both, and never had any issues until S&W started to put those rubber grips on that covered the backstrap. They really uck, and they came right off of the couple of guns I bought that had them.

If you look at the Governor, in a sense, it has a similar length barrel when shooting the 45's, its cylinder gap is just in a different place. :)

That "jump" in the cylinder you often hear that is supposed to be so bad.... my gun must have not got the memo. The 45's both shoot well, and the shorter 45acps shoot the best, so go figure.

I do own a Circuit Judge which I bought as a HD weapon. I got it mainly as something more effective than a handgun that my elderly mother would be capable of and willing to use.

She would not have been interested in learning to shoot a traditional shotgun Or an AR type weapon. Both of those would probably be too heavy for her as well.

I have shown her how to operate my CX4, but the ease of use of the Circuit Judge is a better choice.

Interesting. I had not known that. I would, however, have to buy TWO Governors, as my wife would want one.

Unless that is a typo, you were one exceptional child! Most 1 year olds can’t even hold up a firearm, much less slay a deer with one.

A slight typo.....fatigue and lack of sleep, doesn’t promote accuracy! Should have been 10 years old! ;) Good catch, you were paying attention....move to the front of the class! memtb

They look heavy but they really are not. A Taurus Judge 3-inch barrel and the S&W Governor only weigh ~29 oz. For comparison a Model 10 Heavy barrel weight ~34 oz. The cylinder is big but has great big holes in it removing the majority of the mass.
Plus, the Governor has that great Scandium finish, IMO, all in all, a pretty nice gun, even if not for everybody.

I'd go with the Raging Judge. Why you ask... because it's the Desert Eagle of revolvers and looks mighty impressive.:D

I do have a customer with a 3" version that he uses for home defense. He keeps two .410 shells loaded first then the .45LC rounds. I asked him why and he said if he had to shoot someone in his apartment the .410 rounds wouldn't penetrate the walls and he hoped they would stop an intruder without killing him. The 45LC rounds were just in case the .410 rounds didn't stop the intruder.

That is a hefty looking revolver. :D

In regard to the Judge/Governor being ugly... I have to say that my favorite gun in all of sci-fi is Deckard's blaster from "Blade Runner." I know -- right? o_O

The ungainliness, appearance-wise, of pieces like the Judge/Governor (I have the Governor) is part of the perverse appeal to me... Call me an "iconoclast"... :D

The logic of FAS1’s customer is what generated the ‘hate’ due to the gun producing such questionable tactics

Thanks for posting about Bella Twin. I have shown dozens of our LGS customers articles about Bella Twin to support that it is shot placement and ballistics that are critical. Plus, it’s humbling for some of us to learn that the biggest Grizzly was taken down by a five-foot tall woman with a single shot 22lr with hockey tape holding the stock and barrel together. I would have been honored to meet her, but I can at least I can honor and share her heroic feat.

Was just looking up .410 ammo for SD and the availability and pricing.....and....doesnt look very ready available or affordable to me.

I personally fire 50 rounds per week for training and for me, that is a bare minimum. Some weeks ill fire several hundred. Again, this is my EDC numbers.

At 1.25 per round, id be deep in debt by now if i had to choose .410.

Its the Chrysler PT cruiser (stretched version)or Pontiac Aztek (camper version) of SD weapons. They made em, they didnt sell well, and there are some people that like em. They are kinda cool, sorta.....and maybe a few scary few that collect them (doubt it). And all this is OK!

The Taurus 450 is a great revolver; lightweight with a ported barrel and rubbed grip that almost eliminates felt recoil. The 45LC is a big bullet with a lot of energy even at slower speed. Stand behind someone shooting it and you can feel the concussion waves hit you.

I had that same revolver in 44 special. There was nothing wrong with it. It went bang every time. It was as accurate as the fixed sights and 3" barrel allowed, which was actually pretty decent. It had those weird "grippy" grips. I never decided if I liked them or not. The trigger was kinda stiff and I eventually traded it towards something else, but it was a pretty good revolver.

I shot a friends Judge a few times. I found it interesting, but I don't shoot 45 or .410, so - outside of having fun trying something different I have no real opinion about it other than I had fun trying one out.
