I might be headed to Juneau at the end of Augest for a week of fishing. Any good shooting places? Any hunting available? Any members from that part of AK here?

Start out by heading to 'The Hanger.' Order the King Crab, and a pitcher.

Worry about everything else the next morning. . . .

I stayed at Whalers Cove a few years back and fished off their island. Had a great time and they really know how to set a table for their guests. If you want to save some money they offer Canadian trips where you guide yourself while using their boat. I did not bring any guns with me so I can't help you on that...sorry. Have fun! If you find yourself with to much halibut keep me in mind. :p

well the silvers should be running on the kenai peninsula by then, but thats no where near juneau is it?

Should be plenty of 'yompers' & finners' around Admiralty Island - I'd see if you could rent a place at the hot springs and fish the passage from there.

I'm sorry I'm ignorant of any good hunting/shooting in the area (when Susan and I were there, it wasn't for that - we were aboard 'Tuli.').

Great info, lodging and fishing are all taken care of allready. This is a trip my dad and my uncles had planned for somtime. Dad's cancer is back and he may not be able to go now. He called me the other night and told me that his brothers are going to take me in his place so his money doesn't go to waste. I was not in the right mind to catch all the detals, but he said the plane tickets, hotels, rental car, and charter fishing is all paid for, the only thing I have to buy is food.

sorry to hear about your father. don't forget the camera and lots and lots of film. one of the things alaska has in abundance is great opportunities for excellent pictures.

let us know if you have any time here in anchorage at all. maybe you can steal some time away to fondle the takedown guide guns at Wild West Guns. and anyone who comes to anchorage MUST stop by the gift shop of the world famous Great AK Bush company and get at least one t-shirt. plus the surrounding scenery isn't too shabby. :D

psshaawww! you make it sound like i'm on a first name basis there. hahahahahahahahahaaa...

oh who am i trying to kid?
