I love my new striker HK vp9. Now I need another HK. One of the hammer flavors. Thought about the P30 but I can't get the USP 9 out of my head after seeing the movie Collateral (USP 45) years ago. Movies rarely influence me on my purchases but I just found the gun very pleasing to my eye. Then I find out its a tank and has rave reviews. I know its a big gun but it just looks and operates flawlessly imo. Range gun only with a slight chance of carrying it some day. I know they're overbulit and on the large side, but any other gripes over them?

My main question is this. I inquired on ordering an HK USP9 (V1) 709001-A5 today. I believe it came with 2 mags. 15+1. Price: $890.
Then a second one came up. HK USP9 (V1) 709001-A5. Same exact gun but came with 2, 10 round mags. So (10+1). Didn't say anywhere that it was a CA compliant model or anything. Price? $814.

Any HK guys here that can explain this to me? I imagine getting the 10+1 then buying a 15 round mag later on. But why the $75 price jump from two identical guns? Just a fluke? Or are their mags really that spendy.
Thanks.

HK Magazines are pricey.

Found your HK part# USP on Gunbroker for $748.74 ( buy it now price )

If you like HK hammer fired pistols in the movies, check out the 1st John Wick movie. P30L

Yeah, for me the grip on the USP series sucks. I suggest you try one before buying to see how you like it. I tried the USP and the P30L and far preferred the P30L and shot a lot better with it. The P30 is just as overbuilt as the USP in more modern grip shape very similar to the VP9 and also has changeable palm inserts and back straps while the USP has none of that though a lot still like the USP and it works for them.

Yes, they are.

Maybe you'd like an 18 rounder for $80 https://www.topgunsupply.com/h-k-usp-9mm-18rd-magazine.html

Of course, the 15 rounders are only $37 https://www.topgunsupply.com/h-k-usp-9mm-15rd-magazine.html

The one caveat I always have with the HK USP9/40 is they use a polymer mag. I'll grant you HK probably makes the best mags in the world, but in their entire line-up, the only guns that use the polymer mags are the full size USP9 and USP40. The USP 45, all the compacts, and all the P-Series guns use metal mags. While I don't think the poly mags are terrible, if HK thought they were a better mouse trap, they'd probably use them in some other pistol, but they haven't.

Hey something to think about, the magazines for the P30 and VP9 series guns are interchangeable. Not so with the USP.

I'm not a fan of DA pistols with hammers, but if I was going to have one, it would be a USP. That almost sounds like a dos equis commercial. I had the opportunity to use the USP extensively and went through the HK factory armorer course, and used a MK23 some when I was in the military. The biggest downside to HK is price. They are PROUD of their stuff. Guns, mags, even the t shirts are pricey. You know what HK stands for? High Kost. But they do make good products- even though some of their early stuff was very "niche-like", or lemons.

So the two 10 rd mags vs the two 15 rd mags are what's causing this $75 difference? Wow. I can live with two 10 rd mags being this is a range gun first. Its just strange to me that adding 5 more rounds per mag equals $75 difference give or take.

Seen it. Hk P30l with a custom compensator made specifically to match up with the P30's slide. Loved it. Doesn't match my budget with that custom compensator. USP is what I'm after.

The P7 was the greatest firearm H&K ever made, and in fact it is the greatest semi-automatic handgun in human history IMNSHO.

Thanks for everyone's input. Very helpful. Im kind of locked in to buying an HK USP 9. Just totally confused on how two 10 round mags vs two 15 round mags on the same guns equates to a $75 difference. Maybe its just my dealer? Or like JTQ pointed out, the mags really are that spendy. Thanks guys.

Standard issue sidearm for Combine Overwatch metrocops. Excellent choice.

If you think those prices are bad, look at the price their rifle mags and accessories go for! I have a nearly pristine USP9 and you can find semi-decent prices for mags, but you have to be patient. Of course I stumbled into the gun (with upgraded internals) for a measly $600. I'm told I am exceedingly lucky when it comes to acquiring guns and gear.
