Well I finally went down to the Bibb County courthouse and put in my application for a concealed carry permit
I was very pleased with the lady who took me through the process, she was courteous, efficient, and got me out in around half an hour
I was told it would probably take 3 months to get the permit out, because the FBI takes so long with their check.....anyone else from GA get their's quicker?
3 months....sheesh.....
anyone else in Bibb County want the info you need to get one give me a PM

I applied for mine in Cobb County on Aug 22. The girl told me 2 - 4 months. I'm really hoping I'll have it before Christmas.

Wait 60 days then call them, I’ve heard of more than one occasion where everything came back good the judge signed the permit and the clerks tossed in on the desk and forgot about it.

Call at 60 days then call again at the 90 day mark.

1 month in Barrow for my wife. Took abt 6 wks in Gwinnett back in '94 for mine. I don't believe it's 3 mos just on the FBI's part. Once you have it, tho, renewals are nearly instant.

I took my son to get his when he turned 21; that was 2 years ago. It was in Clayton country. The people were very nice and told him it would be approx 45-60 days before he'd get it in the mail. The damned thing came 5 days later; I couldn't believe it got here so quickly.
My renewals always take about 7-10 days to arrive.:)

.....Oh!
and it is awesome to not have to pay 100 plus bucks for the permit......i feel lucky shelling out 45 bucks compared to what you have to pay in FL or other states.....and no training requirement! = less money spent = nicer holster :)

Don't try to get a CCW oermit expeditiously in Lowndes (Valdosta). It's county policy that you've got to be a resident for 6 months before you can even apply, then they tell you to expect a 4 month wait after that. 10 months just to get a CCW--Virginia had one to me in 3 weeks...

I got mine in Newton County in about 45 days. That was 5 years ago. I just went yesterday to get it renewed, only $20 for another 5 years. What a deal. Here's hoping I get the new one before the old one expires.

So you guys have to wait for your renewal? In Barrow, I just walk from the Clerk w/my paperwork over to the sheriff's office for the records check, and then back to the clerk and she hands me a still-warm, newly laminated renewed license. Takes abt 45 minutes or less.

my roommate just found out i applied.......his response was "so you are just going to start carrying a gun around!?"
i hope he doesnt tell all our friends, that would befeat the purpose
sigh....i would have liked for him not to know but he would have found out eventually

Good luck with that one BSR, you definitely need to be careful who knows. I told someone who I thought would be cool about it and the first chance they got they wanted me to show someone my gun!

yeah,
and its not like i can carry it much, since im at school most of the time
unfortunately in GA you cant carry at colleges.....i guess the shootings at Texas, Applachian State, and Case Western show that there is never violence on college campuses
oh well....something to write the reps about.....
definitely going to be discreet with who i tell......

Got my first one about 10/ 15 years ago (decatur), only took a month or less..... they always give you the high end :)

I'm a couple of days away from 4 months since applying for mine in Gwinnett. The process was easy enough, I just don't like waiting! It's been about a year since I've carried...I'll have to get used to it all over again.

Fellows, I may be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere in all that fine print, that the state or county or whatever, had sixty days to respond with your permit. I got mine in 59 days.
