I went to my local gun store and they had one of the mid 90s CZ-52s brought in by Century Arms that were converted in the Czech Republic. The slide was reblued, the barrel was stamped 9mm Luger and it was marked on he slide
"Mod. 52 Mfg. by BRNO in Czech Republic
Imported by CAI St Alb VT"

Very well done... came with holster, spare magazine, and cleaning rod. Paid $249.00 for it. It did not come with a 7.62x25mm barrel..... does anyone know where I can get a spare 7.62x25mm barrel?

Do the rollers need to be fitted, or do they just drop in?

I'd also suggest the new firing pin, the originals were prone to breakage.

Back in the mid 1970's 9x19 vz52s were available at the Graffenwohr training area (FRG)Rod and Gun which was then on main post rather than tucked into one of the old tent city areas all alone.

Problem with them was at the time you could not get them on a form 6A to import them. Still it was tempting but on a PFC's pay not that tempting. One guy offered to buy it from me when I left and that made me atleast go see the LT about the possibility. He was of the opinion that the new CO would frown on PFCs that already had privately owned weapons in the arms room cluttering the place up getting one he could not even import into the US.

Later on my return to the US I got called liar and everything but a child of God for saying I had seen handled and almost bought a 9x19 Vz52. All the experts insisted no such animal existed.....even though they were in the Waffen Frankonia catalog......

Does the 9x19 use the same recoil spring as the 7.62x25? Has anyone tried converting one to 9x25?

WHY DO YOU THINK this was a factory change of caliber ?? Gun companies do NOT like to do this.
I was told back when, the CZ52 9MM PARABELLUM's were converted right here in the U.S. of A. by CAI.

Wil,

Both the Rod and gun folks and the german gunsmith I used in Ulm said the VZ52 in 9x19 mm were exported from Czechoslovokia that way in 1975.

Perhaps the current crop of CAI guns are converted by the same gnomes at CAI that make and modified all manner of things imported.

But, the high polish deep blued ( like early commercial model CZ75s) Vz52s of 1975 in Europe were very well done. They may have in fact been done by Frankonia or some other German outfit, but again the two sources I had that I felt trustworthy at the time said made in CZ for export.
