Just bought my 2nd SIGMA

    Best gun for the money I've ever owned and S&W's service is stellar.

    I couldn't ask for a better truck gun.

    Wanna talk about triggers? Go ahead....ask me.:neener:

    Smith will fix the infamous trigger and pay postage both ways on their dime.

    Got my first one back within 2 weeks of shipping it.

    Just can't beat that for a $250 truck gun.

    If S&W will fix the trigger, that'd be a new story. I messed around with the trigger on mine so I'm a little concerned about sending it back.

    They wouldn't fix it for my friend. He was told they no longer offered free trigger fixes because "We intended it to be heavy" I don't know what he said exactly to them but it didn't work at all lol.

    I like the way they feel in the hand. Nice deal on a reliable pistol. I like the .40.

    Congratulations on nice pistol at a great price. The Sigma does feel nice in the hand, but I imagine shooting much more than a box of 50 rounds would be difficult with the stock trigger (unless you are trying to exercise your trigger finger).

    I've wondered what one would say when you call S&W about the Sigma trigger.

    It's not really broken, like HippieMagic said it was designed that way, so there isn't a responsibility for them to do warranty work on it. It's more like you are asking them to "tune" the trigger which is more like "elective surgery" and I would think they would ask to be paid for the modification.

    So when you call, how does the conversation with S&W Customer Service go? I'm not jerking your chain. I do like the Sigma and would be interested in the trigger modification.

    Nope, they will not fix a "heavy" trigger.

    Simply call them, say you're fine with the trigger pull weight, but it is unacceptably "rough" and "gritty" and doesn't feel like the parts have been machined or fitted properly.

    Worked for me a couple of weeks ago, and it's already in their hands by now.

    Arrived back in my hands today.

    Trigger's better: like night and day different.

    Whole process from shipping it to receiving it took less than 2 weeks.

    Mine has a somewhat heavy trigger. It is smooth but heavy. It is not supposed to be a competition firearm but a carry-defensive firearm. I figure that if I am man enough to carry it, I am man enough to pull the trigger. Mine goes bang everytime, it is not very heavy to carry and I am very happy with it. A heck of a good buy for the price.

    Sigma trigger fix

    I just called S&W cust. srvc. 800-331-0852 and asked to speak to someone about a problem with my pistol. Larry answered and asked how he could help. I told him that the trigger seemed not to be working right because the parts were not machined or fitted properly. He said he's sending me pre-paid shipping labels and I should put a note in the shipping box and explain I'm returning it because the "..trigger is rough & catchy."

    I'll update you guys with the outcome when I get it back.

    Sigma was designed to simulate the feel of a double action revolver as a transition weapon for officers changing from a revolver to a pistol. A trigger pull of about 10 lbs is necessary for the weapon to function. However, if the trigger pull is excessively heavy or rough, those issues can be addressed. If you would like to send it in for repair:



    Put your name, address, phone number, and the issue(s) that you are having inside the case with the gun. Take it to a FedEx service center (not a FedEx Kinkos or a mom & pop place) or there are sometimes FedEx Express Drop boxes at US Post Offices. Go to FedEx.com to find your closest shipping location. Ask for a white medium express box, they will give it to you free of charge (don’t let them “sell” you a box). Smith & Wesson only pays for the shipping, not the shipping materials. Please include all magazines if there is a feeding, misfire, and or extraction issue.



    ü On the shipping label address it to the address below:

    ü Your Return Shipping Address: By Federal Law, we must return it to the address used on the shipping label.

    I wouldn't follow this one. Sorry, but I'd be a bit concerned that you just removed a spring, and didn't do a proper trigger job, like by a competent Smith that knows what they are doing.

    If it was really that easy, S&W would tell folks to do this themselves.

    The main problem I had wasn't the trigger pull itself it is the fact that there is no clean break. Maybe I just like my glock's trigger a little too much but I felt like I never knew when to expect it to fire. It seemed to handle recoil pretty softly though.

    That feeling you describe of never knowing when it would fire is exactly what is buggin' me. Along with the fact it just isn't proper.

    I have a 9mm sigma with that mod and it has approx 2,000 down the pipe and its been perfect.

    That's one of the biggest improvement the factory fix makes on them.

    I have a Sigma with easily 10K rounds through the pipe and never did that trigger job but have had exactly one stoppage with the gun not intentionally done by me. I am going to try that trigger mod and see what it's like.

    Not sure what's up with that because that's exactly what they've told me over the phone (more than once), and that's an exact cut-and-paste quote Frank posted recently in a public, online forum.

    And mine just arrived back from S&W yesterday.
