I love mine, it's probably the best revolver and best Ruger I own.

Factory .45 ACP doesn't impress me out of this, it's slow (~760 fps with 230gr) and not accurate. My .45 ACP handloads using .45 Colt bullets and a roll crimp loaded to (maybe even above) .45 ACP +P are faster and more accurate. Also, I size the brass with a .45 Colt sizer.

You may encounter light strikes with the Ruger clips because they are very springy, the Ranch Moon clips are a PITA to install and remove cases, but they seem more solid and less light strikey.

.45 Colt and Schofield shoot great from it, Schofield is super accurate, but not much reason to focus on those because the reason most people buy this Redhawk is to shoot .45 ACP.

Wow, $1339.00 (Retail) for a Ruger revolver! Boy have things changed since old man Ruger passed away. Back in the day Ruger's claim to fame was a quality revolver which cost much less than a S&W revolver. Now some cost even more than the Smiths.

That is a really nice revolver, congratulations.
Agreed

Got the Redhawk today. I had to do some election type duty this afternoon so I only got to fire off a few cylinders. I'm glad I had studied up and already had some aftermarket items here before the gun arrived. The double action pull was too high for my Lyman pull gauge and the single action pull was almost 10 lbs. Firing 45 acp with the factory grips was ok but some medium 45 Colts I have loaded hurt. When I got home I installed a Wolff mainspring and a Hogue grip. Tomorrow I'll see if it does any light strikes and I know the grip is Way Better. Oh, 9lb 1oz average double action and 6 lbs single action.

Ol' Bill designed that grip to help with recoil. The trick is not to choke up on it; leave a little room between the web of your hand and the top of the grip. It re-directs a lot of the recoil into making the gun swivel up; almost like a single action.
