• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

I have a friend in his 40s who has never shot a handgun before. I don't know how he managed to get to that age without ever shooting any handgun at all, and he has a pretty good collection of long guns.
I took him out to my shooting spot and started him out with CCI .38 target rounds in my S&W 686, 4" bbl. Two cylinders of those and he asked for the full power .357s. These were Buffalo Bore 125 grn hollow point so they pack a kick. Not only did he do very well, but he's hooked and talking about trying different .357 revolvers to find one he likes...besides mine, which he really loved. He says he won't buy a used gun so I wish him luck in view of today's prices. I'm glad to intro someone to handgunning.

If he insists on new, I'd steer him to the GP100. A few years ago, there was only a $75 price difference between the GP and 686 in my area (no big deal). Now that's more like $300. As much as I like my 686, the new ones have priced themselves about out of contention against the GP IMHO.
