Hi all,

I've been registered on this forum for a little over a year now (lurked for a bit beforehand) and have read many threads regarding how something so deceptively simple like a love of guns (or self-defense, 2A, whatever, all inclusive) can make or break a relationship.

I had always dreamed of having a woman that would fully support my values and beliefs when it comes to firearms -- as many men have reported here on THR. Having lived in Seattle for almost twenty years, I have never found anyone like that.

Since moving to Idaho, all that has changed.

That's right. I have met a wonderful woman and it may not be too soon to mention we will most likely get married next year. :D

At any rate, this post has two purposes, really, which is why I decided it would best fit in General. The second purpose is to say that I'll be visiting her family in Virginia for the first half of September. If there is anyone in the Norfolk area who would like to get together with us, drop me a PM. I've met many internet strangers since joining some forums, so I don't mind making the invitation here. But when we meet, y'all just better keep those scary guns at home! :p

(yes, that last was a joke)

Congratulations!! :)

I wish I was one those guys you refer to. My wife just tolerates my "gun habit" as she puts it. She rarely shoots, and generally doesn't like to hear me talk about guns, which is why I spend so much time on these forums.
I wish you the best of luck and happiness!!

Ahh, Very Nice

I'm sure, before too long, Biker will be along to tell you that this is only right and proper.

I don't suppose you'd share with us which part of the state you're in?

Oh, and congratulations.

The family that shoots together - stays together !

Or something like that - congrats !

The only thing my X wanted to shoot was drugs - but thats an old boring story . Glad you could find someone special .

you are fortunate indeed. i have had it both ways. after the first one told me that either the guns go or she was. she did. from then on, the first date was a shooting one and thats where they got culled until the present (near 28 years) one. i could brag on this one for on and on. she is a pretty one and reloads on her own equipment saving me many thousands of handle pulls, and i mean many.

if there is any thing else about your GF that is likeable, dont let go, and, have a happy life.

I have such a woman. She's not an avid gunnie like myself, but she does enjoy punching holes in paper with me and used to get 25 cents per squeak tail as a kid growing up on a farm.

I'm betting your gal grew up on a farm also where shooting squeaks may well have been a chore, not just a past time.

Best of luck.

From Someone Who Knows...

your joy! My wife of a little over one year is a BIG 2A supporter and has her own pistol and rifle. Plus (get this): she suggested the "Ugly Black Rifle Savings Fund."

I pinch myself from time to time... :)

Best of luck and God bless you!

Neal

Absolutely! And we're planning on a big homemade cookie bake to mail off to those who have been so supportive.

The more the merrier!

Congrats on your happiness:) may you both be blessed with good health, personal wealth and a loving house.

Congratulations, you lucky, lucky man.

Wedding? Cookies?? hmmmmmm One sister in Caldwell and another in Notus. When did you say the wedding is scheduled?:D:D

Gotta change your moniker to "Icon of Idaho" or something. Good job in escaping the benevolent lockstep of Seattle (motto: "we know what's good for you"). May you stay lucky in life and love in Idaho.

Sometime next year, but the date hasn't been set yet. I'll be sure to post more when the time comes.

Get A Prenup!!!

Heh, yeah, no doubt!

I still miss the PNW area, for sure, but Idaho is very beautiful and has some great carry and CCW laws.

One wit did suggest I change my name to "Basil of Boise" and I'm jealous that I didn't think of that first (though I am using "Sage" in the sense of the "wise man" and not the plant).

Thank you all once again!
