k frame grips

I have a square butt model 10. I use a Houge monogrip, which is great for comfort, but I was thinking of something more compact for carry. Before I start spending huge sums of moola on a bunch of grips I will never use, what do you guys use? How are the standard wood grips that smith and wesson has that don't fill in behind the trigger guard? Are they more or less comfortable than the ones that fill in behind?
Any input or better yet pictures would be a great help.

If you look through the "S&W Model 36 Chiefs Special" thread, just a post or two below, you'll see some beautiful pics that Cocked & Locked has of some Smiths with Tyler T's on them. I use them on my guns as well and have not found a better combo. Adds just enough meat to the grip in the right place without adding the weight.

I agree with the application of the Tyler T-grips.. They really really work, and the price is right.

With the model 10 the recoil isn't much of a problem. With similar grips and magnum loads, one often comes up with a sore knuckle on the finger immediately behind the trigger guard.

The Tyler T-grip solves both comfort and the recoil problen in each case without increasing the size of the grips.

I like the Tyler T grips and the older Pachmyar grip gapper too. Unfortunately the Pachmayr unit is no longer made. Fortunately the Tylers still are, and at a great price. Another option would be the "Boot Grips" in either wood or hard rubber. These are offered from S&W as well was Eagle, Ahrends, and probably a few other makers. They're thicker around the grip like the Hogues, but don't extend below the grip frame to keep a compact profile.

Ditto on the Tyler. Works great with std service grip panels or, if you want to reduce the bulk even more for IWB carry, the Birami Hip Grip.

Sorry no pictures, but may I suggest the discontinued Uncle Mike's / Butler Creek square butt boot grips. They add minimal bulk.
