I went to the local gun show this weekend thinking I wasn't going to buy anything big, just misc AK and Mosin parts, that I cant seem to find online. I had never seen son many people at this show and looking for small parts wasn't really an option considering I couldn't even get near the table. After getting tried of swimming through people I figured I'd hit the corner where the 80+ year old guys set up their C&R table, and thats when I saw it.

I had always found swiss rifles to be interesting (looks like something a they would mock up for a storm trooper to hold). But when I picked this thing up I couldn't not buy it. So I did.

I talked with the old man about his trip to Switzerland and he told me that when I got it home to look under the butt for a troop tag. I got it for $350.00 +a box of ammo, the surprise I got when I got home was even better. I drove home kicking myself for not checking to see if all the parts matched...But they all did. The trigger is BY FAR the best milsurp trigger I've ever pulled, the bore is bright and shiny, and it has the troop tag :) How did I do?

nice! I just paid $300+ shipping for a matching K31. $350 is the going rate....so you did ok. Aim Surplus was selling them for $80 back in 2007 or so, that's the only thing that makes me  about today's prices. That said, $350 isn't much to spend given the quality of these things.

GP11 surplus ammo is match grade and cheaper than Prvi stuff. I ordered a case from ClassicArms.us but I also see it available other places as well.

You'll love it! Also keep in mind that you can use .308 " bullets for the 7.5 X 55 if you reload. These rifles are great economical shooters.

I got a K31 a few years ago,,just because. It was put into one of my safes and never even fired by me..yet. After reading the post I ran to the safe to removethe butt plate and find the troop tag. NOTHING, I was so disappointed.

Awesome! I just got an ancient lee turret press a friend gave to me and I was wondering where I was going to find 7.5 projectiles...well that solves that...

The K31 is arguably the finest made mil-surp on the market. All matching with excellent bore and trigger is the norm. GP11 ammo is difficult to duplicate hand loading. I was lucky to buy into the Swiss rifles when they were still cheap and GP11 was plentiful.

side note....look for the $10.50 stripper clips on eBay....I just bought 5 of them. Should come in handy since the magazines are $Texa$. I want to find another stock so I can refinish it while leaving the original as received. Problem is, the stock alone goes for $100-200 on eBay so its almost not worth doing (considering an rifle is $100 more).

tell me more about the barrel compensators on the rifles in that pic pls
This is from Swiss Products, screw on or clamp on models. You well feel a nice decrease in recoil, muzzle jump is reduced with a moderate increase in sound level.

The ZFK has a variation of the pepper-pot comps.

A good K31 is absolutely worth $350.00 today even if they sold for less years ago.

Yep, I agree. Congrats on your new Swiss rifle!

Just to add another photo to the pile in this thread, here's mine I got several years ago.

Thanks! Got a sweet deal for a K31 last year, looking into a scope for it

A scope will let you bring out the most accuracy in the K31 that's for sure! :D

I don't recommend a handgun scope, that is what is currently on my K31 and the eye relief of the scope is around 11" to 12". It really needs to be around 9", whether you use a recoil pad or not.

My next scope for that rifle will be something like this - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/67...cout-rifle-scope-4x-28mm-dual-x-reticle-matte

I had something else come up so re-scoping the K31 is on the backburner for now. The good news is, I still have a another use for that handgun scope! :)

Believe it or not, that's the condition of almost all K31's. Parts/mags are scarce because few of these rifles are in such bad shape they are worth parting out. I nearly bought another (third) a ways back, but the description mentioned a non-mirror bore, so I figured it had to be a lemon.

Got a chance to shoot mine again today (it's been a while :( ) and it kicks as hard as ever. I was expecting my Steyr M95 to beat me to death, but it was a large dog (if not a pussycat) compared to the horse-kick of the K31. The stock just does not fit me. Gotta get me some Mojo sights and one of those cool leather cheek pads Madcratebuilder's always flaunting in our faces :neener:

Humourously enough, the better fitted, milder kicking, M95 with the sights I can see a hair better still grouped wider than the K31. Like, 6" at 50yds vs. 4" --not even close to a contest. That match trigger on the Swiss is just phenomenal (M95 has a horrific trigger that doubles as the bolt stop :barf: )

TCB stood there, shoulder quietly bruising...

Damnit, now you guys are making me want to dig my K31 out and go shooting later today. :)
