looks really good so what exactly is the requirements if I want to refinish my stock like you did? I think you mentioned steel wool earlier, did you sand it or just put lindseed oil on it?
Missed this earlier. For the first coat, I usually mix Boiled Linseed Oil half and half with (odorless) mineral spirits. If the wood is rough feeling, i will LIGHTLY use as fine of steel wool as I can find, but this is optional if you like how it feels. I use the heavy nitrile gloves, and just rub the BLO into the stock for a few minutes. Let sit for an hour, wipe off the excess, repeat after 24 hours (or more). One coat should lood good, 2 should look better, it gets diminishing results after that. It works better when it is warm. I only did it because the stock that came on mine felt dry as a bone and soaked up water and sweat like a sponge. The oil gives it a bit of protection....but it you want to varnish or polyeurethane it later, forget it.

Google BLO finish M1 there's 100 different ways and opinions. Some will say skip the steel wool because it may stay in the wood and rust later.

also ordered a sling and oiler from Numrich and it fits fine without any altering looking forward to sighting it in now.
Glad to hear it, the hole in mine was narrower than the GI stock. It looks bare without a sling (although this is one of the harder slings to use for shooting stability.)
