Been looking at various guns for CCW and several people have mentioned Kahr. Okay fine, go looking for a Kahr CW40 and damned near have a heart attack at the $650 price in my area :what:

I just don't get it, I see 'em for sale on gunbroker for around $450-500 TOPS

So that puts it out of my price range. Any other similar suggestions in .40 S&W? (not kel-tec please, they just don't suit me).

Order it from Bud's Gun Shop in KY, or some other reputable place (CDNN?) with decent prices. Use GunBroker.com or AuctionArms.com to find an FFL in your area who will transfer for a reasonable price.

I don't know about the CW40, but last week the local price for a CW9 was $390 at Sportsman's Warehouse.

Good luck!

I am going to get a CZ. That is in your price range. I haven't fired it yet, but I messed around with it in the store for a half hour and was having a hard time finding anything I would later not like about it (sans firing of course). All the reviews are positive also.

I haven't checked with the factory, but I noticed in the last issue of the Shotgun News in their price guide they showed the Kahrs going up quite a bit and said it was due to factory price increases. Sounds like they're raising the MSRP on them. Since they don't seem to be able to keep up with demand it does make financial sense.

That price is ridiculous

Thinking about getting one
do a search on galleryofguns
http://www.galleryofguns.com/
Local shop is asking $400 or about $395 for the CW model,
remember this is a polymer frame.
The steel frame of course is heavier and higher.
Any knowledge on how these guns handle?
I sure dont have any but the price and reputation is luring me in.

Try a run to the area gunshows. The Chantilly show is huge and several dealers that I know have fair prices go to that show every time. Look here for dates: www.cegunshows.com. Also, the Showplace gunshow in Richmond is good (same promoters). Last month, I bought a Kahr K40 from a local dealer (The Armory in Va Beach). It was a factory refurb and I chose it over a CW40 that was in the case for $450 (the K40 is in very good condition and the CW40 was NIB). I've seen CW40s, P40s, and PM40s in (relative) abundance last few shows. Dark Sun Surplus seems to have them pretty regularly (if I'm not mistaken, they had one at the Hampton Show this last weekend - don't know the price though, but they're usually more interested in moving lots of guns at slim profit margins than selling a few for a hefty profit).

$650 is insane :what: Especially in Virginia.

I just checked my price at Davidsons Gallery of guns. By the time that I paid their fees it would not be worth me ordering any to sale at 395.00 On a Credit card sale I would actually lose money.:cuss:

Local shop and davidsons

My local shop only charges $35 on top of the price of $395, well plus tax.
But the gun shop throws in 3 hours of range time, plus targets.
Well worth the 35 extra to get a low price.
Also Davidsons will give you a lifetime warranty on the piece.
Some have argued yeah, lifetime is bs and this and that,
However, this company has been in business sometime and its nice to have that extra level of insurance,
Most other gun shops that I see out there quote you really high.
Also if you use a credit card and then pay it off right away you will actually get money back or sky miles.
Have to know how to work the system.

YIKES! Yeah, I like the Kahrs too but the sticker shock keeps me from (pun intended!) pulling the trigger on getting one.

Got the CW40

Very impressed with this weapon, man it is very nice.
Very stiff feel out of the box.
Showed it to my friends and they liked it also!
They were like -man I want one of those and also like -That's the perfect carry piece.
This gun is so sweet I am carrying it everywhere.
Worked the slide quite a bit and of course I have not even test fired it.
Right now I have it loaded with FMJ .40 so that is a beautiful thing.
Will have to put some hollowpoints through it for a reliability test.
Most of the guys at the shop said dont worry about the 200 round break in as a couple of 40s will wear it in.
Best thing about this gun is its a large caliber semi auto that fits right into a pants pocket. The size is unbelievable, Im sure it has recoil to boot but recoil is only in the mind of the beholder, otherwise they wouldn't sell handguns large enough to drop bears.:uhoh:

I carry a CW9 in a Sparks Watch Six. The only other carry piece I'd trade it for right now is a P9, the more expensive brother. I've carried a bunch of guns in a bunch of different holsters, but this is the one that I'm comfortable strapping on every single time, without changing my wardrobe or altering something else to carry it comfortably. I can also shoot it about as well as my G19. Never shot the .40, but I'd imagine you'd get similar results. Mark me down as one happy Kahr owner!
