Kahr Torture Test?

Anybody heard of/read a torture test on a Kahr before. It seems like they have plenty of features that would help it score pretty good in a glock-esque torture test.

Kahr has enough problems just getting their NIB poly guns to work and repairing the many that don't. I don't think they have enough time on their hands to be thinking about torture tests.

I've never heard of problems with their poly guns. I have a CW40 that hasn't ever had any problems. When I first got it, I cleaned it, and put 1,000 rounds through it before I tore it apart again. Did very nicely. Only the inside of the barrel was dirty.

I am not aware of any "torture tests" having been done on Kahrs. To what end? They are not meant to be a military or police service pistol. As CCW guns carried by ordinary average people, they lead relatively pampered lives (i.e., kept clean and out of the elements), and the reports from the people who own, carry and shoot them are what you should listen to.

I myself have never had functioning problems with my E9. I did have problems with my PM9, but they were fixed the first time, and now it is my "always" gun.

With the VERY tight tolerances right out of the box (my PM9 slide rattled less than some 1911s I've seen), there's no way they'd stand a chance at making a run anywhere near Glock's. Just ain't gonna happen.

They are very nicely made guns and the machine work and detail is top notch, but like already mentioned, they are VERY tight, and sometimes too tight. Take my PM9 for example. It was a total lemon from the get-go(several FTFs,trigger reset failure,etc) I sent it in (twice) and it still came back with the same FTF/jamming problems but the trigger reset problem was gone.

The point is, they are designed and machined well, but IMO they make their specs a little too tight and precise for what their polymer is capable of handling. I just don't think polymer guns with molded in rails stay in spec from the factory as well as machined steel does. I'd bet that's why Kahr has had trouble keeping their polymer handguns from coming back to the factory as often as they do. I wish they'd ease up just a tad on the tolerances over there at Kahr and allow a LITTLE slide rattle...they have a GREAT design for CCW, but they could be making alot more money if they built up a better reputation for reliability(especially on these internet forums). If only I could walk right into the Kahr/Thompson HQs, smack a few people up-side the head, and finally start spitting out some of the finest concealed carry weapons ever made. I'm telling you, their design is absolute genius, but they just freakin don't know how to apply it properly for me and you, the consumers.

It's finally nice to see a thread on Kahr discussing their attributes & drawbacks w/o the tiresome mention of their pedigree...

Torture tests are also pretty expensive. Tell you what, if other people will fund it, I'll do a torture test on my MK40. It looks like 10,000 rounds of ammo would be $2,500, though. That's not going to happen.

FYI The New York City PD no longer authorizes K-9's as off duty/backup weapons. If you already had one, you could keep it. Kahr had to rebuild all of the K9s that were being carried. The main recoil spring was supposedly going bad after 500+ rounds....(124gr +p)...trigger springs were losing there pull weight....
Also QC was said to be spotty....K9s coming NIB with P9 triggers...and I believe there might have been a frame crack issue with the newer productions... (mind you, these guns were all bought "retail" like eveyone else, not issued.)

i do know of issues with the polymer guns, don't know of any torture test, i do know however in my k40 i have 800rds or so and no issues to date. i also haven't had issues in either the p40 or k9 elite that i have experience with. it is sad that there are so many issues and these darn things cost so much.

Try selling a used PM40. Trying to get rid of one of those and not lose your ass is torture.
