Well, I ordered a pair of POSP scopes from Kalinka Optics a month or so back. They arrived a few days later at my house. However, I'm in a dorm right now so I had to wait for a while until I got to play with them.

Well one weekend I go down and take both of them out. The night I got back, after greeting the parents and my grandmother, I played with the scopes and put them on two of my rifles: My .223 Saiga and my DSArms STG58 FAL. The FAL scope was a replacement for a NcStar scope I had on it. Before anyone says anything bad about NcStar, that scope is really really nice and I still have it. However, the only bad part is the eye relief is around .9 inches. I do not kid. Needless to say, I needed something better and I found it fitting that my FAL should have a military scope.

Both scopes have the Siminov reticle, which I really enjoy. Once I got them zeroed, I was hitting the 200 yard gong with authority. These scopes are just wonderful. And for $120 for the Saiga scope and $170 for the FAL scope, I'm not complaining!

The Saiga is a fixed-mag 4x24mm side-mounted scope that allows me to use the irons as well, and the FAL's is a variable 2.5-5x24mm. Both are illuminated.

Those pictures look grainy, damn. I should have got better lighting.

hey deerhunter, i got the identical scope for my saiga x39 a couple months back, and i'm very pleased as well, both with the scope and kalinka ( for those wondering about this operation). mine took maybe half a mag and a few clicks, and it was dialed right in. i'd also considered a higher power scope, but now think the 4X is ideal. i see you ditched that annoying angled eye-piece,and put on a butler creek flip-up lens cover. looks good, i'd considered one for mine as well, even measured for it,but never got around to getting one, and don't recall the dimension. what size did you put on it ? i'm thinking 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 ??

Actually, Mil-dot, those flip-up lens covers came with the gun. I don't like the angled eye-piece bit (that rubber thing never gave me the right eye relief). So yours didn't come with the flip-up covers?

no, my scope came with a rubber cap that squeezed on the end, probably making a water/air tight seal, and connected with a little rubber lanyard that attached to the scope. and now that i look at your photos again, it looks like the scope on you DSA has the same cap, just pushed back out of sight. is that it ?

Yeah, that's it. That's what I have on the FAL. I don't mind it, but the AK scope came with the flip-up scope covers. Odd.

So your's came with that? Now that's odd.

How far have you shot your Saiga? What kind of accuracy are you getting out of your x39?
