ATF is a “meh” department for Trump - acting leadership indicates a lack of prominence in this administration - an afterthought. In turn, consideration to subordinate/ assign the ATF to another department, further diminishes their prominence. Trump is a business man, he thinks/ operates like a business man - this is how a CEO addresses a department in his corporation that has no prominence - the ATF is an annoyance for Trump - very low on the list of his priorities.,
Firstly, as stated before the "meh" post, Kash Patel was not removed. No one except the President could have removed him, and he didn't. Kash took over the role of BATF because he was searching for the right man. For those that have watched his career, this was typical. Only when he had satisfied himself that his choice was the right man, did he assign him to the ATF and return to his sole role as head of the FBI.
Now the quote above...ATF is not an annoyance for Trump, just the opposite. One only has to look a the "top priorities and promises made" list distributed by Trump (and found on most peoples refrigerators) BEFORE he was elected to see that all things 2nd amendment are and remain a top priority. Not an afterthought, no one chooses Kash as an after thought, one only had to watch the battle that took place to place Kash to know better. This is not how most CEO thinks as we report to a Board of Directors, Trump does not report to anybody. He is not done with the ATF, in fact he has just begun with the ATF. Even having said that...Trump and his choices has done more for we the People in regard to the ATF then anyone that has a clue has done in a very long time.
1. The absurd "one and done" ATF rule set that closed FFL shops across the country has been removed in its entirety.
2. 2/3 of the ATF agents have been assigned to FBI field work. Kash took it over to do exactly this....first.
3. All the typicals....DEI, the manner by which people are promoted, the manner by which people are hired at the AFT, all have all been dramatically improved.
4. Anyone that actually interfaces with the AFT knows that BIG things have changes as process times are astonishingly short now. Suppressor waits times can come in at 2 days.
In actuality things are anything other than "meh" and imo, people need to understand and support what is being done as it is exceptional work.
