I have a used Kel Tec 32 that occasionally malfunctions when fully loaded with 7 +1.
However it is utterly reliable when the magazine is downloaded by one round.
Is this worth sending it back?

Use it. They might screw it up. Wouldn’t be first time. One in the chamber, six in the stack—beats a five shot j frame (numbers, not power)

What ammo also? Does it do it with different mags?

They make a spacer I would install if running HP's in it. One of the reasons I stick with ball in mine.

I wouldn't send it back. Would try different mag(s) and put a new spring in the mag that is having issues. New recoil spring is also a cheap item to try.

Is it perhaps rimlocking hollow points?

I run long OAL Euro FMJ in all of my .32 autos to maximize reliability and performance. I think the Seecamp is the only gin that requires the short JHP (or WWB flat nose) OAL.

Please inform on the malfunction, as above, with ammo used.
You mentioned it was used, clean the firearm and magazines deeply, wait a week and clean them again. If you have FTF still consider a spring kit from Wolff.
I got a LCP for $125 because it was a jamomatic. Did the above, and it has 500 jam free rounds thru her.

    Failure to feed.
I cleaned it throughly and bought two extra magazines.
I used 2boxes of FMJ and Critical Defense.
All Fed perfectly with 6 +1

Mag springs or recoil springs, might be worth refreshing them.

P32's have a rep for working good... My own certainly does, fully loaded. I use S&B mil-spec FMJ. JHP isn't worth it in 32acp, plus the real possibility of rimlock.
OP needs to fix this problem before it gets worse.

If the top round is causing the problem, it would seem that a weak recoil spring might not be able to strip that top round off efficiently and therefore the failure to feed. Each successive round in the magazine will be easier for the slide to strip off because of reducing mag spring pressure.

    It’s usually the 3rd or 4th round.

My first impulse would be to replace the magazine spring. Getting a spare magazine would be helpful in general, as well has helping you diagnose the problem.

Mine is a jam-o-matic with shorter ammo, and completely reliable with FMJ.

About half way through the mag, then. A spring refresh is in order, new mags, then reevaluate. These little guns have short cycling windows.
