I fired my pf-9 yesterday for the first time and at first was quite impressed. It was a lot "snappier" than my Colt 1911.This was also my first time ever shooting a 9mm Luger pistol and am wondering how something like a Beretta 92 or Glock compares to the full-size .45...In terms of felt recoil.
Now the bad part...after only 3, yes, 3 rounds fired the gun ceased to function!!!
Needless to say I was a little bummed out about this, as this gun was purchased for CCW purposes which I am now seriously reconsidering!
Luckily the owner of my local gunshop (Bobby @ Homestead Guns & Ammo)was able to fix the problem and showed me how to do the same if it should re-occur...basically the spring on the trigger axis came out and the gun would not stay cocked after racking the slide...Has anyone else had this or other problems relating to the pf-9 (or Kel-Tecs in general?)

It has happened before. more so on the 380 kts That spring goes on the bottom of that trigger bar in a little groove. If I recall, I think kt made a change and deepened that groove in the bottom of that trigger bar to prevent this from happening. If yours comes out again, and I think it will, then call kt and ask them to send you a new trigger bar, you can install it yourself if need be.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be watching for that on my new pf9. I have 200 trouble free rounds through mine, so far. How many defense rounds should I put through it to consider it reliable for carry, now?

KT has a lifetime warranty.... send it back and more than likely they will upgrade your gun to the new frame. ;)
Kel tec definently stands behind their warranty and usually goes above and beyond expected.

AK-47Ghost, sounds like you have an older production PF-9. I think around November/December last year they issued a new trigger bar that had a deeper cut to prevent this from happening. If you send it in to them, they will retrofit it with the new trigger bar for you at no cost, as well as a metal magazine release. For reference, I've had my PF-9 for about 2 years now. Around December/January the same issue happened to me. I immediately sent it in, got back with the upgraded parts installed.

If your serial number is R3xxx or under, you don't have the latest upgrades. Call KT...dont email them, and tell them what's up. They will take care of you.
