Kel-tec RFB rifle - a write-up

Holy Moly!

Does a 32" barrel have any benefit at all? Usually the longest barrels I see are 24-26" in length. I have a .22LR and a .308 AR in 24" and they're dang heavy. Adding another 8" seems excessively heavy, even with a polymer outer body.

Anyone gotten their hands on one of these yet? Keltec's website says shipping beginning in Feb 2009.

I've been over at the KTOG website the last two days. Supposedly they should be out any day...

It is reported that there were some last-minute improvements, such as straight-in mag lock instead of rock. The only complaint I have, from what I can see, is that the safety is backwards.

Retail has been set at $1880.00, and according to Kel-tec they will have 'a handful' ready to ship in Q2.

Where did you get your info, I sit on the KTOG site periodically and last time George Kellgren posted he was still saying first run during Feb. If you have some good info I'd like to post it up there.

A couple of folks have managed to dig up the wholesaler price as being circa $1100-$1200.

my info is from a Kel-Tec employee. how good is it? id like to think its good...its never let me down so far. the pricing i posted is directly from Kel-Tec's biggest distributor. that i saw with my own eyes, so unless it changes before the guns actual release (which would be a big mistake on Kel-tecs part) i would say the pricing info is rock solid. as far as dealer cost, i hate posting that kind of info...but you are dead on.

I inquired at KT and was told, "not yet, sorry" by one of their customer service representatives on 17 Feb 09.

Perpetual push backs. Will be interesting to see what the next release date is that they post on their site since February is rapidly coming to a close.

I am also interested to see reports on the RFB and handle one. For 1k+ it better be a huge improvement in terms of fit and finish over any of the Kel tec products I have previously owned, shot, or handled.

Dealer cost is $1200ish, so the eventual steet price is looking to be $1400ish.
