We took him out on a shoot and I believe he had never shot any gun before. He goofed around with a BB gun a little- looked like the kid in the Gene Sheppard Christmas story. Then fired this shot at 50 feet. Dang 'ol hit a 25 yard Birchwood Casey slow fire center. Then he kept on doing it hitting better than a lot of experienced duffers do with their ccw guns.

We forgot to tell him that it's hard to shoot a pistol

Actually this is the third time for grandson Kid Anthony to get to go shooting--though the first time he was too little to hold a gun by himself. He surprised me the second time (late last year on his 9th birthday) because he didn't have a flinch.

now i remember. Anyway that's no squib he was shooting. 24 grains and a .445 ball and it was doing high 900s.

Cool pic!

The first BP pistol I fired was a 45 cal Philedelphia derringer... couldn't hit a thing at first but man it made BIG holes around the coffe can we were shooting at.. then finally BOOM the can rockets into the air with a spray of water and a big cheer from dad.

He doesn't cheer as much but we still like to shoot.

The kid was doing more right than I was. The velocities were actually in the 800s. That stance of his looks pretty individualistic but He smacked the 25 yard center pretty good from 50 feet. Then later he pinwheeled one and knocked out the little "10" in the middle. In spite of all our efforts, he has not yet learned to flinch.
