Kill Bill

KB 2 has some guns, but it's still more of a sword and martial arts movie than a gun movie. Having said that, the gunplay in KB 2 is pretty interesting. But what do I know, I'm just a "girl".;)

Most tarantino flicks have tons of gunplay but this one is meant to be a modern reworking of the classic kung fu movies.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 is mostly all swordplay. It is a stylish mixture of every type of action movie imaginable; elements from everything from Westerns to Kurosawa to Hong Kong style are represented. If you have seen a ton of films, you will recognize that it is far beyond a rehashed kung-fu style. Kill Bill Vol. 2 is mostly a storytelling film. There is only one instance of gunplay that is shot as the primary object. Overall, these are some of my favorite action films, if not my favorite action films of all time.

KB1/2 will go down in history as genuinely different, innovative and kick-tail action movies. They literally do for action flicks what Star Wars or 2001:A Space Oddity did for Science Fiction flicks.

I can't wait to see what he does with his new project.

He was saying on the "Making of Kill Bill" that this film inspired him to learn about directing an action film and in that growing process, he was lead to the desire of writing and directing a War film... stay tuned.

It won't be Saving Private Ryan, to be sure. It may not even be based on fact, but none the less it could be unique.

Very little gunplay, and what there is of it is even more idiotic than the martial arts and swordplay. It's a cartoon with real life actors. And not a very good cartoon at that.

"Saving Ryan's Privates"?

:)

So long as he doesn't try and top Mel Gibson in the "violent Jesus flick" department :scrutiny:. That would be...hmm...well I guess I'd HAVE to watch it for the sheer weirdness effect. Samuel L. Jackson as Judas, anyone?

Kill Bill was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. I luckily didnt have to pay for it (borrowed the DVD). Im sure Kill Bill 2 is just as bad.

Tarantino is overrated. Akiro Kurosawa, Ahn Lee, Sam Peckinpah and anybody else he pays "homage" to he is not. Hes not even Run Run Shaw

Film geniuses dont make derivative movies.

To me the movies harken back to "campy" kung fu flicks. I enjoyed them purely as fun movies that are so far over the top that they skip right over fantasy and nearly get back to reality.:D

And the cereal in the first one certainly packed a punch.

Cereal=KaBoom

Very Clever. Too bad we didn't get to see the gun that was fired. I suspect it was a "magnum" revolver of some sort. Not an automatic by any means.

It's all speculation of course...

It was a wierd, fun movie. Talking about its "realism" is like talking about a porn star's IQ... utterly irrelevant.

Busting its balls for being derivative is kind of silly, too. Tarrantino basically said it would be derivative right up front. Not everyone likes Ferraris, but not becuase they aren't dump trucks.

And on topic: very little gunplay, aside from the anime sequence with O-Ren Ishii, and the Bride getting shot in the head.

Palehorse- Actually, as far as i can tell (Pause mode, DVD) the gun in the cereal box was a small auto, something along the lines of a PPK, a Sig 232, a Jennings. Aside from that and the incredibly cool sequence with the single action revolver being fired, there's not really any gun play to speak of in Volume 1. Volume 2 has a bit more, but nothing terribly interesting.

I forgot but the opening sequence has 1 gun where Bill shoots the Uma character. Nothing to write home about that scene. The animated Lucy Liu character uses a PSG-1 rifle to kill some fellow in a limo. I haven't seen KB2 yet.

We just rented it this last weekend. I was all into the scean where Bill shot Black Momba in the head, but lost it when the bullet wasn't spinning as it exited the muzzle. OK for a Tarentino flick, I liked PF much better.

So telling us its gonna be crap makes it less crap?

If somebody tells you they are selling you a pickup truck, are you going to buy it so you can complain that it isn't winning drag races? :neener:
