Curious because I don't see much on Kimber. Will confess haven't read through all threads, posts, etc. Anyone relate, because it is my new pride and joy and need tro discuss it or Kimber in general. Got Glocks, etc, but this 3" barrel compact called the "Aegis Ultra 11" is the most reliable gun I could think of for carry and fits the Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 well, Would have gooten a Veramax 2 3" barrel , but as you may know they can't keep up with demand so backordered from Milt. Never shot more accuractely. If this is what a 3" barrel on a Kimber can do, I eventually when I'm out of hock must buy a full size piece. I can understand noe why there are many in pro matches, not to say that many other guns can't compete they can. Thanks , Mike

You'll find a lot of negative info on the Internet about Kimber, however that hasn't been my experience at all. I've got the 3", 4", and 5" lengths and they all function extremely well. The 3" shoots is very accurate and is extremely manageable to say the least. The 5" is a dream to shoot. Reliability on all three is excellent. I own 2 Kimbers-Ultra Carry II and a Pro Crimson Carry. These are two of the finest handguns I have ever owned. They were super accurate out of the box and have the smoothest trigger for a production gun.
I would not trade them for any other 45 on the market.
I have read many negative comments about Kimbers and problems forum members have had with them.
One negative about the Kimber is the cheap magazines that the gun is sold with. I did have some failure to feed with these magazines but once I ordered Wilson Combat Magazines, I have not had any FTF or FTE. They have functioned flawlessly.

Kimber's track record hasn't been perfect. But this Classic Custom is the standard of comparison for me. Nearly 14 years old, silky smooth, still tight, and can cut clover leaf groups @ 25 yards.

A new pro carry II was the first pistol i bought. A friend had an ultra carry II with night sights that was awesome to shoot. I had to have one! Unfortunately the pro carry II turned out to be a lemon that i had to sell at a show.
That was two years and 16 or so gun purchases ago and i havent had a kimber since. I have considered getting a Custom II Target... To me it is about the perfect balance of cost and utility in a gov sized 1911. Assuming its not a lemon

The only problem I've had with my Kimber Custom II is getting it to eat American Eagle ammo. Otherwise, it has been flawless.

My Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II is a fine piece. It's a completely different animal than is my Colt MkIV Series 70 Govt. model... but, that's to be expected. The Kimber is my primary carry piece. I've also got a Colt MkIV Series 80 Officer's in stainless... I prefer the Kimber.

Kimber Pro CDP II with no issues regarding reliability. Close to 3000 rounds through it. From the cheap stuff to self defense. I even ran some hand loads that a friend gave me through it before discovering they were way too hot. I ran about 100 rounds of it through the kimber without issue, but the extractor and ejector on a para p12 I previously had broke after about 10 rounds of the "+p+holycow!" ammo.
I did have one user induced error. I fell while working out of the back of a truck. I landed against the curb. The entire weight of my body (180 or so then) landed on the ambi-safety and snapped it. I called Kimber and explained it, hoping to get a part number to order. Instead they sent me a brand new safety, completely free of charge despite explaining that it was my fault entirely.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kimber. My friend has a plain jane Kimber Custom II. I think that is the most no frills model in their lineup. It works beautifully, too. For a sub $1000 1911 with many of features, my experience has been very positive. I paid under $900 for mine, but from what I've seen...the price has went way up for the exact same gun.

My CDP II is in the shop right now having the R/H thumb safety lever bobbed so I can put CT Laser Grips on it. I've been really happy with it.

The external extracor models were hideous for reliability. Right now, for USPSA, S&W or Sig are ruling single stack in our area. Kimber is a no-no, built too tight.
Kimber in USPSA is the reason that I stopped carrying 1911s. If y'all haven't had problems, I have one pieve of advice: Don't sell it. You have the one gun, made from moon rock or some alien asteroid, in a long, sullied history of guns that don't perform flawlessly. If someone offers 100 grand,don't take it! <g>
Within USPSA circles, Kimber is a punchline. If your's hasn't jammed, you ain't pushin' it hard enough.

I have used my kimber 1911 for the last 13 or so years. The only problems I have had were related to my reloads. It loves wolf ammo and has eaten 10k or so of it. It has always been reliable except when I have done something wrong. People talk crap about Kimber but I dont know why. But if you have a first gen that you want to unload call me the check is in the mail

I have a Tactical Ultra Pro II with the dreaded external extractor, it's my primary carry piece, not a single issue since day one.
Also have a Raptor Ultra II as a back up carry.
