hello all
i just added another 1911 to my gun collection. a kimber custom 2. ive got to say that its one of the nicest entry level 1911,s that i have owned. its very accurate and i only had 1 malf during the break in. it was on the 3rd mag so we will call it around shot 17 or 18 the slide did not return completely to full battery . i have near 500 rounds down range now with no other problems. i love this gun. any body else have the kimber custom2? how do you like it. i will post pics shortly

heres a few pics, sorry about the picture quality

I have a custom II, I have to agree a very nice out of the box 1911. I put smooth faux pearl grips on it, but soon after I went back to the factory grips for better control, I have 0 malfunctions with mine in nearly 1000 rounds down range. All in all a nice pistol.

i have noticed that with the kimber pro tac mags that if i load 8rds in the mag chambering that 1st round is not as smooth as if i only load 7rds. may be due to everything being new and not broken in yet. also the mag wont seat in the gun with 8rds in it unless the slide is locked open. it was a factory 7rd gun but the pro tac mags are 8rds but it runs great and is very accurate even with cheap fed champion bulk pack ammo. im sold on the kimber, great gun for the money

It is an extremely common problem. The reason is the mag makers are squeezing 8 rounds into a tube length designed to hold 7.

If you want 8 round mags, try Wilson ETM, Tripp CobraMags, or CheckMate (they make the KimPro TacMags) extended tube mags.

thanks for the info and the link, that explains allot . i will prob just load 7rds instead of 8 but was thinking og trying the wilson mags. 1 round isnt a big deal for me as this is mainly a range gun. i have a beretta 96a1 40cal for cc and hd. i may try to load 8rds in the mags after a 1000rds or so to see if the springs have lightened up a bit. its 100 percent reliable when loaded to 7rd capacity so 1 round isnt worth sacraficing reliability in my opinion. its funny that my local gun shop that i purchased the kimber from told me that the 1 stock mag that came with my gun was crap and recomended the pro tacs at 26bucks a piece only to tell me later after i called them about the 8th round prob that the gun will function best with 7rd mags:banghead: then why didnt you say that before a purchased 5 pro tacs:what: oh well it shoots great and is very accurate and fun to shoot thanks all for the replies now its time to go to the range with 200 rounds of fed bulk ammo i scored for 31bucks a box of 100 at wally world
